Adam’s perspective underscored how Northern Ireland’s thriving tech ecosystem and skilled talent pool are crucial for advancing solutions in agritech. CattleEye provides AI-driven, hardware-free technology that monitors herd health and improves productivity. Speaking to the power of AI in dairy farming, Adam shared how CattleEye’s solutions help farmers reduce routine tasks from hours to minutes, ultimately freeing up time for more strategic priorities. As of today, CattleEye actively monitors over 140,000 cows, marking a significant leap forward for animal welfare and operational efficiency. At Big Data Belfast, Research Scientist Kristina Ulicna, PhD spoke on the panel “From Molecule to Market: How AI is Transforming Drug Development” along with Stephen Donnelly, Head of Information Processing & Analytics, European Medicines Agency; Iain Styles, Professor Of Computer Science at Queen's University Belfast; and Robert Grundy MBE, CEO, Intelligent OMICS Ltd. The panel was hosted by Shay Cullen, partner at EY. Kristina shared some of the key advantages AI has brought to drug discovery in the last 5 years, including unbiased, hypothesis-free approaches, large data generation and analysis, and fully automated industrialized labs; and also how AI is being applied – from image embeddings with vision transformer models  and masked image autoencoders to graph neural networks to understand 3D molecular structures. Very lucky in my role to attend some events many of them in different countries. When you get the opportunity to attend one at home in #Belfast even better! Yesterday had the privilege to attend Big Data Belfast event with Andreas Galatoulas who was kindly asked to present #AECOM. What an event it was and truly without any doubt one of the best events we have been to. What a showcase for Belfast and with the event also having its 10th anniversary 🎈 did not fail to impress. Sold out with 800+ attendees, over 250 companies and 25 speakers the numbers speak for themselves. Met so many amazing people and had great conversations, loved the talks and mix of content and excellent exhibition stands. Too many excellent speakers and presentations to call out! Learnt allot and so many take aways. Know we have so much talent in our wee country, but wow came away even more proud and inspired of the next generations of technology innovators as well as existing and new SME businesses we will see in the very near future and continuing to put Belfast on the map to invest in!
