A nonprofit organization that equips youth worldwide with tools to process and tell their stories through photography.

About us

We are a nonprofit organization that equips youth worldwide with tools to process and tell their experiences, impacting how they view themselves and their role in their community. Our custom curriculum improves emotional intelligence, well-being, resilience, and community-building skills. Photography becomes a new access to self-expression, connection, and youth experiencing themselves as leaders. The 100cameras program platform is designed to be inclusive, accessible, and educational and has options available that work in partnership with local organizations or with youth individually. Providing an outlet to process experiences and express emotions through the medium of visual storytelling while fostering a connection to oneself and to others is critical. Our model flips the narrative and gives youth the tools to share their voices and become the storytellers, leaders, and change-makers for their community and beyond. Our program platform has been shown to increase the ability to process and share life experiences, improve emotional development and community-building skills, and increase self-esteem. Learn more about our model, programming and platforms, curriculum, and impact stats. From the USA to Vietnam to Cuba to Thailand to India and Brazil, youth are learning how to express their perspectives and tell the stories of their past, present, and future through our custom curriculum that teaches both storytelling, self-expression, and technical photography skills. Through our program platform, all of the tools, curriculum, and support needed are provided to equip youth to process their experiences, express themselves, and share their perspectives through photography, impacting how they view themselves and their role in their community. It’s turnkey and fully customizable to fit educator's goals and needs.

  • “Photography offers a different way to express what we feel. This is what I love about the 100cameras mission: Giving young people a new way to communicate, process, and understand their emotions, and tell their story.” - Dan Rubin Through Your Lens: A series inspired by our Board of Creatives who believe in the power of creativity and self-expression to break barriers, foster connection, improve well-being, and build community.✨ This holiday season, donate to 100cameras and provide these opportunities to more youth across the U.S. and worldwide. www.100cameras.org/donate

  • Youth navigate complex emotional landscapes every day. Language alone isn’t enough, they need new outlets. They need new tools and spaces to process and share. Through our photography and storytelling curriculum, youth are choosing to document their experiences and emotions through their own lens - finding beauty in unexpected places, capturing quiet moments of resilience, and sharing perspectives that encourage new conversations around how they interact with themselves and see their communities. • Through visual storytelling, young people bridge their inner experiences with outward expression. Youth learn new skills through our programming, simultaneously creating space for emotional exploration — where every photograph becomes an opportunity to connect with their experiences and surroundings, sharing their unique perspective with the world. The impact speaks volumes: 94% of our youth participants report significant growth in self-expression and resilience after our program. Your #GivingTuesday support makes our scholarship programming possible for youth at deserving schools and community organizations, helping us continue to remove barriers to self-expression and open doors to a future where every young voice is seen, heard, and valued. “The mission of 100cameras is something that is deeply personal to me. I’m a firm believer that our voice is the gift each of us has to connect with the world - it’s what makes the work we do distinct and memorable, and attracts others to us that see things the way we do.” - Robyn Young Through Your Lens: A series inspired by our Board of Creatives who believe in the power of creativity and self-expression to break barriers, foster connection, improve well-being, and build community. ✨ Scroll through to see their stories.✨ This holiday season, donate to 100cameras and provide these opportunities to more youth across the U.S. and worldwide. 100cameras.org

As we reflect on this year’s moments of growth and connection, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible stories youth have embraced to process and share. We are deeply thankful for the trust and partnership we've built with our local partner organizations around the world. Together, we're witnessing the transformative power of visual storytelling as a new language for young people to express what they feel, see, and think. This Thanksgiving, we give thanks to our supporters - your belief in our work makes it all possible. Thank you for being part of this journey with us! www.100cameras.org 📷 by Elle Wildhagen and Kelly Johnson, during 100cameras programs in Khanke Camp, Kurdistan and Da Nang, Vietnam

  • Each of our 41 curriculum activities creates space for youth to build on their discoveries and insights. Local educators work alongside students to explore photography and storytelling techniques, all while honoring individual expression. This creates an environment where technical skills support, rather than dictate, creative choices. The curriculum is designed around our custom methodology that centers youth-led storytelling. Ensuring the program experience is tailored to support each unique classroom environment - Where the stories woven into the curriculum’s scaffolding are told by students, and for students. In other words, it’s a meme-free SEL curriculum. Crafted with love for educators and built on trust in students to lead the narratives themselves. It’s so turnkey, you don’t need to be a photographer to teach! Tag an educator 🍎 📷 by Alexander and Gomathi, during 100cameras programs in Havana, Cuba, and Madurai, India

  • Research shows that young people navigating anxiety or instability need spaces to process their experiences and connect with others. When youth choose to engage through creative expression, they often discover new ways to stay connected with their communities and shape their narratives. “As a testament to the 100cameras curriculum for the course, it adequately sets these students up to have a stronger voice for whatever it is that they feel the world needs to know. I think they’re leaving with more concrete goals, hopes, and dreams but also now plans to actually put those into fruition.” - Amit, Educator, Chicago 📷 by Elle Wildhagen and Alex Matzke, during 100cameras programs in Chicago, USA, and Omaha, USA

  • Every time I pick my camera up, I have an opportunity to learn something about the world around me and about myself. I'm proud to be a member of the Board of Creatives at 100cameras, an amazing nonprofit that teaches children the importance of hearing themselves and seeing the world around them. “We fantasize so much about reliving our lives. About moments we could’ve been smarter or smoother or sharper - but I think we completely missed the point of our adolescence. In this transitional phase, we’re trying to build experiences and are moving at a furious pace to do so. The curiosity of these kids - their joy is palpable in this film. And that’s worth protecting…obviously from violence, but also from poverty, lack of access and our faulty memories. Let’s just let the kids live. And live free." - Aundre Larrow, Director Through Your Lens: A series inspired by our Board of Creatives who believe in the power of creativity and self-expression to break barriers, foster connection, improve well-being, and build community.
