To overcome this, we must shift the popular narrative from pessimism to optimism. We must focus on the societal and policy barriers AI, energy, and other emerging technologies face. Can America build big things again? Yes write Christopher Koopman and Josh Smith in the New York Post where they outline a bold path to cut red tape and unleash faster, transformative energy infrastructure. America’s energy future is waiting to be seized. By revolutionizing how we develop energy infrastructure, we could unleash economic growth, secure global leadership, and prove that we can still build big, fast, and smart. The key? American Abundance Zones. Imagine federal lands transformed into hubs of energy innovation—solar farms, nuclear plants, wind turbines, grid-scale batteries—where projects can go from idea to implementation without being buried in endless permitting delays or litigation. The barrier? The outdated and overgrown National Environmental Policy Act, which too often stifles progress while competitors like China race ahead. The solution? Bold leadership at the Department of the Interior, the EPA, and the Department of Energy to streamline approvals, standardize reviews, and pre-clear land for energy projects. These zones wouldn’t just create energy—they’d create jobs, economic resilience, and the foundation for transformative technologies like AI, desalination, and vertical farming. Let’s not just talk about America’s potential. Let’s build it. No decade-long reviews. No lawsuits. Just energy, innovation, and progress—at American speed.

As we close out another year of AI-induced headlines and hand-wringing, it’s worth remembering: we’ve seen this before. Innovation always comes with panic, but history has a way of settling these debates.

Vetocracy. Overregulation. Protectionism. These are the enemies of innovation.
