  • Browning Day is proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new monastery for the Benedictine Sisters of Our Lady of Grace Monastery in Beech Grove, Indiana. For over 60 years, the sisters have lived and served in this location, and this new monastery represents a sustainable, right-sized space that embraces their values of community and hospitality. The 45 sisters in the monastic community have a vibrant presence and live a life of a prayer, hospitality, and service. Through this new monastery, their vision is to elevate this presence through new spaces for worship, residence, gatherings, and retreat - all designed with sustainability and flexibility in mind to support the sisters’ evolving needs.

  • Browning Day is excited to have the opportunity to partner with Grand Universe and Grand Universe Development Partners, LLC to bring the Grand Universe Development to life. The vision of a world-leading STEM campus focused on humanity's future in Space, and here on this planet, is a bold concept and the City of Westfield, Indiana is the perfect place to host that vision.    The keystone of that vision is Johnson-Hagerman Center for Science and Space Exploration, which will house the world's largest domed planetarium, solar and celestial observatories, science and technology exhibits, feature educational partnerships with institutions around the state, and innovative outdoor education spaces.    Surrounding the Johnson-Hagerman Center campus are a resort and conference center, sports and entertainment district, and a robust town center community with housing, retail, and entertainment facilities. All of this builds on the excellent facilities of Westfield in Grand Park, the Monon Trail, and the fastest growing community in the state of Indiana.

  • Browning Day is thrilled to announce St. Joseph Catholic Church has been awarded the 2024 Honor Award by the National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association (NTMA). This recognition is a testament to the dedication, creativity, and craftsmanship that went into the restoration of this historic space. This project reminds us of the power of restoration—not just to a building, but to the spirit of a faith community that congregates within. A special thank you to our partners at MIDWEST TERRAZZO CORP for your efforts on this award-winning feature. Read more on our blog: https://lnkd.in/gp-7QtZb

  • Honoring a Legacy: The Richard Lugar Monument Unveiling Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of former Indianapolis Mayor and US Senator Richard Lugar - commemorating a true leader whose influence spanned far beyond his Hoosier roots. Browning Day’s Jonathan Hess worked alongside the committee and metalworker Ryan Feeney to encapsulate Senator Lugar's humility, brilliance, unwavering commitment to public service, and his relaxed yet powerful presence on the world stage. The classical column hewn from a walnut tree is an ode to Lugar’s favorite place - the family farm, molded with real tree bark from the farm’s walnut grove. The globe within the column signifies his global impact, while the base, reminiscent of The Presidential Medal of Freedom he received in 2013, tells the story of his truly remarkable life and achievements. As former President Obama said during the 2013 Medal of Freedom Ceremony, "Your legacy will endure in a safer and more secure world, and a safer and more secure America. And we pray that this nation produces more leaders with your sense of decency and civility and integrity. We are grateful to you." • WHERE TRADITION MEETS INNOVATION 🏁 Browning Day was given the opportunity to design a new control tower with additional program elements of hospitality and media in the early nineties. The creation of the IndyCar League in the mid-nineties provided a pause in our work, and the opportunity for the League to get established. During that hiatus, we happened to have a conversation with Hulman-George family which explored the historical importance of the Pagoda to the brickyard. From that conversation, the curiosity of a modern interpretation was born. Merging tradition with innovation, our work reinterpreted a traditional pagoda form while embracing the modern form of the 50’s tower to give rise to the Pagoda as we know it - perhaps one of the most iconic buildings in motorsport. Standing tall as a symbol of the importance of heritage, the Pagoda marks the start-finish line as the Cathedral of Speed. As we gear up for this weekend's race, join us in remembering the legacy of racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway “Humbled to have played a small part in making memories for fans around the world. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is truly a special place.” - Jonathan Hess
