I'm humbled and honored to announce my selection to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. This achievement is not my own; it reflects 15 years of community building, genuine connections, and people generously investing in my life. This post would be thousands of words long if I mentioned every person who helped get me here. For the sake of time, I send a big THANK YOU to everyone who shaped my career!!! Here are a few of my favorite leadership lessons: - Own your ROZ (ownership) - Trust the target package (trust) - Strike inside your ethical kill box (character) - Pull as you climb (grow the future) - Get off the X (action with speed) - Your brand is what people say about you when you're not in the room (reputation) - People will not remember what you said; they will remember how you made them feel (relationships) - All mental models are flawed, and some are useful (cognitive flexibility) Special thanks to Dana Belser, MAM, who took a chance on a troubled teenager!

"Army taps ‘Ghost Fleet’ authors to write novel on multi-domain warfare" https://lnkd.in/e8u3tUDG “Task Force Talon: A Novel of the Army’s Next Fight,” written by “Ghost Fleet” authors August Cole and P.W. Singer, will “share the real-world lessons from Field Manual 3.0, as well as lessons learned from both contemporary conflicts and recent Army exercises and training,” according to an excerpt provided exclusively to session attendees. At the Oct. 16 AUSA panel session, Singer described a “double challenge” that forward-looking organizations face, first to understand and frame new technologies and opportunities, and then to communicate the need to evolve and adapt to their members. “How do you gain and retain attention when so much else is competing for it, whether it’s all the other publications out there, to what’s in their email inbox, to just the scarce resources of time?” Singer said. He described storytelling as “literally the oldest communication technology of all,” capable of engaging the emotions and imagination in a way PowerPoint cannot. Story can also reframe the concept of change to organization members, he said. “Change management programs are more likely to succeed when you’re able to tell the story of why we need to change, tell the story of what success will look like, what we’re headed towards,” Singer said. “Most importantly, you’re able to tell your organization you are characters. You are heroes in this story of change, rather than victims of it.” #Futures #Army #FICINT #Leadership

Members of the Department of AF Fellows Program attended the The Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies First Airpower Futures Forum and heard from General Dave Allvin, #USAF Chief of Staff, and other leaders on the force design required to re-optimize for #greatpowercompetition.

Fellows learned about the Congressional process, organization, and practice as they prepare for their year in #119th Congress.

In support of #breastcancerawareness, we want to celebrate United States Air Force Lt. Col. Jennifer Sayers and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda, Maryland, as well as her husband, Air National Guard Major Shannon Beers! Maj Beers was given complete latitude to care for his wife during surgery and chemotherapy and gives all credit to his fellow teammates and leadership for getting the flying mission done during those times. This flexibility allowed to Maj Beers to execute the mission around these critical events enabled him where he needed to be. LtCol Sayers states, “I want other women in the military to know the importance of breast health and to trust their instincts if something feels off,” she said. "Talk to your provider about your risks, and if you are ever faced with this unspeakable situation, take advantage of the resources available. The Air Force will take care of you, just like it took care of me."
