Every year, #16DaysofActivism global campaign calls for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and children. This year’s theme is “Every 10 minutes, a woman is killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence against Women." This theme shines a spotlight on the alarming escalation of violence against women and the urgent need for accountability and action. 🛑 Nearly 1 in 3 women experience violence in their lifetime. 🛑 1 in 4 adolescent girls faces abuse from their partners. 🛑 For thousands of women, the cycle of violence ends tragically—with their murder by partners or family members. Femicide, the intentional killing of women and girls because of their gender, is the most brutal and visible manifestation of gender-based violence. 👉 Violence against women and girls can and must be prevented. There is #NoExcuse for violence. Join us to day on our Webinar on the CTS Nexus. Register here https://lnkd.in/dZrUz9bS to begin the conversation. During these 16 Days of Activism let us speak out, advocate, and take action. Together, we can make a difference and create a world free from violence. #16DaysOfActivism #EndGBV #UNiTE #NoExcuse

Ipas recognizes child marriage, teenage pregnancy and school dropout (known as the “CTS nexus”) as an important framework for expanding reproductive justice for young people. That’s why we work with young people to develop holistic approaches that empower them to take the lead and improve youth access to sexual and reproductive health information and care in their communities. Join us for a solutions-focused conversation to kick off this year’s international 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. We’ll focus on three interrelated factors—child marriage, teenage pregnancy and school dropout—that frequently deny young people the right to make their own informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. Presenters from around the world will discuss how these three factors constitute gender-based violence due to the great harm they cause young women and girls. Day1: We are honored to announce our role in co-hosting the 4th Annual Safe Motherhood Conference, a highly impactful scientific forum organized by Ministry of Health - Uganda and key partners. This year, we’ve gathered over 600 leading stakeholders in maternal and newborn care to drive an urgent, unified response to Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) issues across Uganda. Rooted in core pillars—leadership and governance, financing mechanisms, health systems, and workforce development—Ipas Africa Alliance is proud to add the Reproductive Justice lens to this conversation. We’re tackling the systemic issues behind preventable maternal deaths, from teenage pregnancies to unsafe practices and restricted access to contraception. Our mission is clear: to ensure health providers are well-equipped with the right tools, knowledge, and training to deliver comprehensive reproductive health services while promoting an environment free of stigma and judgment. #SafeMotherhood #RMNCAH #ReproductiveJustice #MaternalHealth #NewbornCare #HealthSystems #ReproductiveRights #PublicHealth #UgandaHealth FHI 360 United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. At the recent National Consultative Forum on Digital Solutions for Future-proofing ICPD beyond 2030, organized by the National Council for Population and Development with support from the Alliance, key stakeholders came together to assess progress and explore innovative strategies to drive the ICPD Programme of Action (PoA) goals forward. Marking nearly three decades since the 1994 ICPD Cairo and five years post the Nairobi Summit, the forum highlighted five critical themes: Demographic Diversity, Population Data Systems, Digital Future-proofing, Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), and the Climate Crisis. In collaboration with #AskNivi, Ipas Africa Alliance presented digital tools focused on supporting post-pregnancy contraceptive uptake and utilizing AI and behavioral science to empower individuals in achieving their health aspirations. The event fostered valuable exchanges with stakeholders like Reproductive Health Network Kenya, Marie Stopes Kenya, PS Kenya, Girl Effect, and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), all working towards scalable solutions in education, food security, health, and climate adaptation. Ipas Africa Alliance is honored to participate in the 81st ordinary session of The African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR). As part of the session, we convened and moderated a side event celebrating 25 years of the Special Rapporteur mandate and 30 years of Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Women in Africa (SRRWA). We delivered a statement on the impact of anti-rights movements on SRHR access, particularly safe abortion, and emphasized the importance of CSE in this year’s AU theme: Educating an African fit for the 21st Century. We also convened a special session that was graced by former Special Rapporteurs who recognized Ipas Africa Alliance for its pivotal role in destigmatizing SRHR and abortion at the Commission. They also acknowledged our contributions in building Commissioner capacities, supporting mandate engagements, and providing technical support to advance the rights of women and girls across the continent. We invite you to join us in supporting #SRHR policies and advocating for a future where every woman and girl has access to the care and education they deserve.
