ISO TC 279 - Innovation Management

Finally, the ISO 56000:2025 Innovation Management: Fundamentals and Vocabulary, is published and replaces the ISO 56000:2020! Starting in 2014 as Convener I have led this work for over 10 years leading to the second ed.   Next step is the update of the ISO 56010, which is the illustrative examples of ISO 56000   The 56000 document is the backbone of the ISO 56000 series by establishing a common terminology. And as you all know, all good communication and culture starts with the language!   Great work Working Group 2 of ISO TC 279 - Innovation Management 279!   My working group (WG2) has liaisons with among others World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO, WTO, The World Bank and OECD - OCDE . The ISO 56000 is a common global definition for innovation and This is the second iteration, and I assume we will start a new iteration in a few years. Congratulations to Andrew Stanton, Peter Merrill and Magnus Karlsson for the recognition of their excellent contribution to the development of #ISO56001:2024 – Innovation Management System. On 17 October, during the celebration of the international launch of ISO56001 in Lima - Peru, their commitment was rewarded with an ISO Excellence Award, presented by the Chair of ISO TC 279, Johan CLAIRE on behalf of ISO - International Organization for Standardization.

Del 14 al 18 de Octubre el Perú fue la sede de la 12va Reunión Anual Plenaria del ISO TC 279 - Innovation Management, siendo la Universidad del Pacífico (PE) la institución anfitriona de la Plenaria y organizadora del Foro Internacional de Innovación que contó con la participación de 44 expertos representantes de los 79 países que conforman el comité ISO. Un evento de trascendencia mundial que fue el marco del Lanzamiento Oficial de la Norma ISO 56001 Sistema de Gestión de Innovación, con la entrega de la primera norma con la autógrafa de las autoridades del ISO/TC 279, Johan CLAIRE, Presidente del ISO/TC, Andrew Stanton y Peter Merrill al Ministerio de la Producción del Perú. Evento que contó con la presencia de las autoridades de la Universidad del Pacífico (PE), Martha Chavez, Arlette Beltrán, Gustavo Yamada y Karen Edith Weinberger, con el Ministro de la Producción Sergio González, Vice Ministro César M. Quispe Luján, autoridades de INACAL, del Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas del Perú, de Concytec Perú, de Promperú, de Cámara de Comercio de Lima, de Sociedad Nacional de Industrias, líderes empresariales Textile Sourcing Company, Anglo American, ITERA Inteligencia Tecnológica y Pacífico Salud. This week, ISO TC 279 - Innovation Management experts are meeting in Lima Peru as the Annual plenary is hosted by Universidad del Pacífico (PE) with the support of INACAL PERÚ. This week was also an opportunity to celebrate ISO 56001 publication at a Global Launch Event. Thanks to the strong commitment of the Peruvian experts, and Patricia Larios-Francia in particular, we were able to organise a major event in the presence of the Minister of Production of Peru, with speeches by Marco M. Alemán on behalf of World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO, Sara Goldberg on behalf of UNIDO, our Chairperson Johan CLAIRE and many others. It was also a busy week for the experts developing : -      ISO TR 56009 Example implementations of Innovation Operation Measurements, convened by Sorin Cohn-Sfetcu -      ISO 56011 Competency framework for innovation management, convened by Charlie Tuxworth And revising : -      ISO 56000 Innovation management — Fundamentals and vocabulary, convened by Magnus Hakvåg -      ISO 56002 Innovation management system — Guidance, convened by Andrew Stanton Lastly, the experts also had the opportunity to look at additional subjects such as a collective intelligence workshop to improve the integration of new experts from developing countries. Les damos la bienvenida al Perú a los 58 representantes de los organismos de normalización de más de 36 países a la 12va Reunión Anual Plenaria del ISO TC 279 - Innovation Management, que se realizará del 14 al 18 de Octubre en la Universidad del Pacífico (PE), Lima. El comité ha desarrollado las normas de la familia ISO 56000. Las normas sobre gestión de la innovación permitirán a las organizaciones compartir sus mejores prácticas en este ámbito. Esto facilitará la colaboración y también desarrollará la capacidad de innovar y llevar las innovaciones con éxito al mercado. The ISO Technical Committee TC 279 - Innovation Management is developing a Competency Framework for Innovation Management. The forthcoming ISO/AWI 25032 standard will provide guidance and reference for stakeholders on the skills, behaviors, and competencies necessary to effectively manage innovation activities.
