About us

ABOUT JOE: Established in 1963, the Journal of Extension (JOE) is the flagship journal for Extension professionals. As a refereed journal, JOE expands and updates the research and knowledge base for U.S. Extension professionals and other outreach educators to improve their effectiveness and serves as a forum for emerging and contemporary issues affecting U.S. Extension education. Moreover, JOE provides a venue for professionals and students to publish original and applied research findings and to share successful educational applications, scholarly opinions, educational resources, and challenges on issues of critical importance to Extension educators. Through its commitment to author development, JOE also provides training and support for effective scholarly communications. JOE is a fully open-access, quarterly journal. It is included in the Web of Science Core Collection’s Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), in the abstract and citation database Scopus, in the full-text database Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), and in Cabell's Journalytics. JOE is also available via the EBSCOhost Research Platform. JOE is published in partnership with Extension Journal, Inc. (EJI), a consortium of Cooperative Extension System entities nationwide. EJI Board members represent the four geographic regions of the Extension system, the 1890 land-grant universities, the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture, the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy, the Extension Foundation, and several other Extension professional organizations. All publishing or process inquiries should be directed to Drew Griffin, JOE Executive Editor, at journalofextension@clemson.edu.
