About us
Kuja is an Adeso venture. As such, we subscribe to its vision of a world where people thrive through their own resourcefulness and tenacity. In that world, communities have the autonomy and power to create their own future. At Kuja, we’re working to make that world a reality. Today, civil society organizations (CSOs) and people closest to their communities have the most effective, efficient, and long-term solutions to issues they face. This is despite having the least resources and facing the most barriers to secure funding. International NGOs (INGOs) and donors have made localization commitments to increase funding and capabilities of local organizations. Yet little has changed. At Kuja, we understand the reasons these challenges exist and provide the solutions. KujaLink A platform that connects community-based organizations to funding opportunities. KujaBuild Operational services that enhance community-based organizations’ capability to secure and manage direct funds. KujaLearn Online learning opportunities that promote the mindsets, skills, and practices required to create change. KujaAdvise Tailored consulting services that simplify the change process.

🌍 All Hands on Deck: Unlocking and Redirecting Funds for Transformative Impact 🌍 Last week, Adeso participated in the African Philanthropy Forum in Marrakech, where executive director Degan Ali, joined a dynamic panel of impact leaders: Almaz Negash, Priscilla Boiardi, Gibril Faal, Eme Essien Lore to discuss unlocking funding from African sources to drive transformative change across the continent. 🌴 A New Agenda for African Philanthropy 🌴 The African Philanthropy Forum highlighted the dawn of a new era in philanthropy—one that is agile, collaborative, and laser-focused on catalyzing funding to accelerate Africa’s transformation. This conference provided a vital platform for fostering meaningful dialogue aimed at enhancing both South-South and North-South collaborations. Together, we explored innovative solutions to redirect funding flows and ensure that resources are allocated where they can make the most significant impact. 💡 "It's about developing the infrastructure to address the issues around risk and capacity so that money is distributed effectively to proximate groups working on environmental and humanitarian issues on the ground." - Degan Ali at APF By leveraging local and global partnerships, we are collectively shaping a brighter, more prosperous future where people thrive through their own resourcefulness. ✨ Join Us in the Movement: As we are redefining the landscape of philanthropy in Africa through collaboration and strengthening the ecosystem of African-led sustainable development, we invite you to engage with us on this journey toward unlocking the full potential of our continent. ▶️ Sign up to our newsletter: https://lnkd.in/eQZV9u_B 💡 "Part of the narrative change and decolonizing ourselves is really about the recognition of what a philanthropist is and recognising that the biggest philanthropists are the people in the communities." - Degan Ali at APF African Philanthropy Forum African Diaspora Network OECD - OCDE GK Partners #DecolonisingAid #DecolonizingAid #ShiftThePower

The 100,000 Rebel Leaders Project | The Dragonfly Collective | Supporting social impact and social justice
It's time to show up and act with Hope and Love. Details of a free session below ⬇️⬇️⬇️ I know when I connect with my heart I become an unstoppable leader. - I am finding myself worrying more at the moment. Losing my own optimism and hope. - I am feeling guilty at times about my security and safety, compared to others around the world. - I am a little demotivated on some days. ✨ Are you? 🪶I'm running a session on Hope and Love, 22nd November 2.00-3.00pm (GMT) ✨Local times - 5pm #Nairobi | 9am #NewYork | 9am #Lima 💜 DM your email address, I'll send you the calendar invite 🌍 The event🌍 - We'll shine a light on our worries, letting go, and setting up a powerful hope and action for the rest of 2024. - You'll re-energise your journey towards social impact and social justice, with other amazing community members. - With all events you can participate as much or as little as you want, and all is in confidence. Your job title doesn't matter - You'll get a copy of one of my books 🪶✨ Hope and Love🪶✨ I worry a lot more right now. I watch the news more. Sometimes unable to detach myself from my thoughts. The pain and negativity of the world hitting my own wounds I find myself feeling guilty for having more than others. There is guilt about my wants. Deep down, I am enjoying keeping myself into the feelings guilt and suffering. There's a part of me that cannot be fully present to experience the moment, if I keep myself in suffering. If I haven't been practicing self care, the suffering of others can feel overwhelming I can want for change for me. And for others. I can both hold happiness and support others through service. I realise, if I'm in my seat of awareness.. that.. I generate my thoughts, I am not them, and.. It's ok to feel joy and happiness...and.. It's ok to feel sadness and pain. I honour the reality in front of me. I remember my ancestors were refugees, now I sit in their won freedom. I show compassion to the people who I connect with. I seek ways to look after myself, others and the land - yes the land. I realise the heart can play a huge spectrum of expression. I carry a feeling that expansive justice is around the corner, but I might not know how to get there yet, or how long the corner is 🤣 My mentor and artist (my son) reminds me about how playful and exciting life can look. He reminds me that everything is an experience 🌸 Permission to ask some questions?🌸 - What do you worry about? - Is this worry etched into your pattern? - What do you hope for? - How can you use that hope to experience the world differently? - How can you use that hope for energy of action? - What's one additional self-care practice you can bring in this week? - Don't forget to play. Questions like these are easier to answer with accountability to someone else, so come join me and others 🪶✨ Hope, 22 November, 2pm GMT 💜 DM me your email address #wellbeing #antiracism #diversityequityinclusion #PledgeforChange
