Yesterday's presidential turkey pardon represents one of the president's most significant constitutional powers— the authority to grant clemency. With his remaining time in office, Biden has an opportunity to grant numerous clemency petitions and right at least some of the wrongs that have disproportionately caused harm to Black, Latino, and other marginalized communities. Born out of the Civil Rights Movement 75 years ago, The Leadership Conference has been an essential convener, thought leader, and advocate for public policies that make our country more fair and free. The Leadership Conference is a 501(c)(4) organization that engages in legislative advocacy. It was founded in 1950 and has coordinated national lobbying efforts on behalf of every major civil rights law since 1957.
