MEC StartHouse cohort III is up and running 📈. StartHouse is our 10-week accelerator program where 20 MIT student founders bring their startup ideas to life. Over the past two years, our StartHouse alumni have raised from top tier VCs, multiple have been selected as Thiel Fellows and Neo scholars, accepted into top accelerators like YC and PearX, and much more. This year, we’re thrilled to launch our third cohort! Over the first 6 weeks, we had workshops with Shalen De Silva, Robin Chase, Dan Sirk, and Joshua S. Miller, J.D., CFP®, AEP®, TEP A huge thank you to these inspiring speakers for their guidance and expertise! This Monday, we entered the program's most exciting phase: our IAP sprint. The next 4 weeks teams will be using MIT’s Independent Activities Period (IAP) to work full-time on their startups. One of these weeks will be spent out in the Bay Area to connect with founders, investors, and accelerators. If you are interested in connecting with us while we are there (or here in Boston), comment and let us know. None of this would be possible without the support of our sponsor — thanks to Christian Williams and J.P. Morgan for helping us make this program big and better! Stay tuned for updates from our incredible founders!

Earlier this month, the MEC Sprint brought together some of the brightest student founders from across campuses, and the energy was nothing short of electrifying! Over 36 hours, teams transformed raw ideas into fully developed solutions, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in such a short time. We were delighted to see so many people come together for a celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit! We had two tracks—our Main Track and Pre-Idea Track. Huge congratulations to our winning teams, Curiate and MechAI! 1st place in each track will move forward as finalists for Xfund’s Xperiment Stake and are set to pitch to Patrick S. Chung. Additionally, our 2nd and 3rd place teams will receive office hours with top industry mentors like Neo’s Ali Partovi, EWOR’s Daniel W. Dippold, or even a Z Fellows interview! Across the board, we saw incredible solutions tackling major challenges in healthcare, sustainability, and education. From AI-powered tools to revolutionize personalized learning, to tech making healthcare more accessible, every pitch was filled with passion and innovation. A huge thank you to Tuan Ho from XFund, Naysawn Naji, Shen Shen from MIT, the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, Red Bull, and everyone who helped make this event possible. To all the participants—this is just the beginning. We can’t wait to see what you do next! #MECsprint #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #MITStartups #Curiate #MechAI #Hackathon #MIT

In case you missed it, earlier this semester we capped off our 2nd StartHouse cohort with our first Demo Day. We had pitches from companies in EdTech, AI, Space Tech, and Consumer Tech. They shared what they were building, their progress and traction, and plans for the future. It was amazing and inspiring to hear how much all of these companies achieved in a short amount of time! Last Saturday MEC—MIT Entrepreneurship Club in partnership with Telora held the Startup Time Machine – the conference where students all over the country came to learn from experienced founders. Students were able to talk to amazing founders: Amjad Masad, Alex Bouaziz, Deepak Chhugani, Nick Damiano, Naysawn Naji, Will Cao, Leandra T., Matthew Rajcok, Matt Tengtrakool, and ethan thornton about starting the startup, defining the problem to solve, talking to customers, finding the right co-founder and the things they wish they knew in the beginning of their journey. Thanks to Eliam Medina, Angie Diaz Medina, Kris Borer, and the Telora team for helping organize this incredible event! Thanks to all the interviewers for their preparation and speakers for sharing their experience!
