“During the progression of the disease, it’s not uncommon for caregivers to feel like they can’t leave the person living with dementia unattended. That restricts and can really shrink a person’s world. We help people be creative in thinking about how they can expand their network of caregivers, how they can access help in the home.” Meeting a growing need for dementia care support: Ohio State Health & Discovery just published a new feature about our Golden Buckeye Center for Dementia Caregiving as part of National Family Caregivers Month. National Family Caregivers Month means more than recognizing the sacrifices and love of family caregivers who give so much of themselves to support their loved ones. It also means advocating for those caregivers and supporting them and their needs. Our Golden Buckeye Center for Dementia Caregiving and partners at the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging will host a full-day conference on December 13 to discuss "Components of Quality Dementia Care." Keynote speaker Gary Epstein-Lubow, MD, associate professor at Brown University and a health services investigator and geriatric psychiatrist in Rhode Island, will provide a history of efforts to improve access to comprehensive dementia care and introduce the newly launched CMS Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model. The conference will bring together experts and practitioners to explore critical topics, innovative programs and strategies that enhance support for caregivers and individuals living with dementia. The event is free to attend in Columbus. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and 4.75 nursing CEs will be provided for engagement in this event in Columbus. Please make plans to join us at our center in Columbus! Learn more and register at this link: https://bit.ly/4i81pRB
