❄️ We're heading into a winter storm warning here in the Mid-South. We shared this information with our drivers, but it's really important for anyone driving in winter weather conditions. ❄️ - Always reduce your speed by at least half. It takes a lot longer to stop on slick roads. - If there's ice? Think twice. We tell our drivers to pull over and get off the roads if they're too icy to drive. Does it mean it takes longer to get our cargo to its destination? Yes. But it also means we are protecting our drivers and other motorists, such as emergency personnel, who have to be out on the roads. If you don't need to get out, don't. A joyride is not worth risking your safety or someone else's safety. The Mid-South is not as equipped to handle snow as northern states. Less equipment (and resources) means it could take longer to clear roads to make them navigable for the average driver. If you do need to get out, or like many truck drivers, are en route to a destination, be sure you're prepared in case you need to shut down. Have plenty of water, food, warm blankets, flashlights, batteries, and other emergency gear to get you through until its safe to travel again. Local police department social media pages are a great way to keep track of what the roads are like in your area, as most generally provide updates throughout the day. Be careful, and stay safe!

The Tennessee Trucking Association Annual Convention was held last month where our very own Daryl Ward was bestowed the Hereby Honor for his work on the Tennessee Road Team, visiting schools and community groups to teach them road safety. We are so excited to announce that Josue Villasenor is the newest graduate of the Ozark Fleet Maintenance Apprentice Program. This program is a 5 phase program that allows our fleet maintenance employees to gain experience in all aspects of fleet maintenance and grow their skills. Additional benefits of the program include increased hourly pay and receiving a toolbox with tools rewarded in each milestone of the apprenticeship.
