RIPE Platform: Payments over costs for agricultural conservation
About us
American producers have a pivotal role to play in tackling climate change, but they shouldn’t sacrifice their own livelihood in the process. Rural Investment to Protect Our Environment (RIPE) is a producer-led organization advancing national agricultural policy that would pay farmers and ranchers over costs for stewardship practices. Producers would earn payments for voluntarily implementing conservation practices that deliver public value through carbon sequestration, greenhouse gas reduction, improved soil health, water quality and other environmental services. Legislators on both sides of the aisle are interested in the RIPE platform but need to hear from producers before moving forward. Learn how you can get involved at RIPEroadmap.org/get-involved.

2024 was a great year for RIPE. We traveled to 11 states and met with producers from across the country. We held more than 45 meetings with Senate and House Ag Committee members on both sides of the political aisle. We shared our research about Renewable Energy on Farmland, and Regenerative Agriculture and Nutrition Best of all, we expanded our coalition and listened to the unique stories of rural America. Our work is not possible without your support! Whether it's a monetary donation, or participation in our storytelling campaigns, or telling your friends about us, or even just interacting with us on social media, a little bit goes a long way. Learn more on our website about how you can support RIPE and help us keep the momentum going into 2025 and beyond. While you’re there, check out our 2024 Report! https://lnkd.in/eNUHsTPU

Craig in her new leadership role on the House Ag Committee along with the new incoming Senate Ag Committee Ranking Member, Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), incoming Senate Ag Committee Chairman, John Boozman (R-AR), and standing House Ag Committee Chairman G.T. Shout out to RIPE’s Leadership for traveling to Washington, DC this week for our year end meeting! We welcomed our Board of Directors and representatives from our Steering Committee for policy and conservation conversations in America’s capital. One special highlight was getting to sit down with Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN), who was elected by her peers to become the Ranking Member of the House Ag Committee for the 119th United States Congress. Calling all producers! As we are working on our plans for 2025, we want to meet you and tell your story. What regenerative agriculture practices do you use? What do you think all Americans should know about farmers and ranchers? We’re designing a new storytelling campaign that will allow us to tell the stories of rural America, particularly historically-underserved producers. Interested in having RIPE tell your story? 2024 was quite the year for us here at RIPE. We traveled to 11 states and met with producers from across the country. We held 32 meetings with 20 Senate and House Ag Committee members on both sides of the political aisle. We saw renewable energy on farmland in action at Isbell Farms, attended the Alliance to Advance Climate-Smart Agriculture Summit, grew our coalition, and more. Read all about our accomplishments from 2024, and our plans for 2025 and beyond in our Year in Review report, now available for download on our website. https://lnkd.in/escSJ2r8

2024 was an exciting year for RIPE. We had our boots in the dirt in 11 states and worked diligently to protect the environment and the economic interests of rural communities alike. We met with producers, conservation groups, agribusiness associations, policymakers, and more. There is still much work to be done in 2025 and beyond, and we are eager to continue working toward our goal - seeing American farmers and ranchers compensated for the public benefits created by their #RegenerativeAgriculture practices. Read our latest blog “Sowing & Growing: A Year in Review” for details about RIPE’s work on the ground this year. https://lnkd.in/eZjgntKi

It’s Thanksgiving - a day to celebrate the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Today, we thank American farmers and ranchers. These hardworking people are responsible for our food and sustenance, and for the stewardship of most privately-held land in America. While you are enjoying your Thanksgiving plate today, take a moment to think about where your food came from and who you have to thank for it. Learn more on our website about how you can support them. https://lnkd.in/eRYQAFpv
