We built our brand on defying expectations. Style shouldn't harm the Earth, and sustainability shouldn't limit yours. The NY Fashion Act was a step towards that future. The Act may not have passed this year, but we're not giving up. We know millions of you, like us, refuse to compromise. You deserve both: a wardrobe that makes you feel good and doesn't harm the environment. Join us in the fight for a future where fashion takes responsibility.
Executive Director at New Standard Institute | Keynote Speaker | Author, Unraveled: The Life and Death of a Garment (Longlisted, FT/McKinsey Business Book of the Year)
The Fashion Act made historic progress this legislative session. We are at an inflection point. It is becoming clear to players within the fashion space, the media that covers it, and legislators that sustainability in fashion will simply not happen on its own and that common sense regulation is urgently needed. Will legacy brands, multi-stakeholder initiatives, trade associations, and sustainable fashion fora be roadblocks, or will they choose leadership and join the forward-looking brands, suppliers, innovation companies, educators, ambassadors, students and advocates who are the future of the industry? (For those that want to join us, reach out!) Either way, the Fashion Act will not be stopped. My thoughts at the close of the NY legislative session.

Rothy’s made an interesting offering this Earth Day: a new pair of Rothy’s shoes (free) in exchange for a used water bottle. The aim was to make a statement: the cost of plastic should be higher, much higher, as high as a pair of Rothy’s perhaps. Check out this Forbes article to learn more about our Earth Day initiative, the value of plastic and why we should all strive to keep it out of landfills. https://lnkd.in/gWwmVsR5

"People like a shoe that lasts a long time. They like a shoe that at the end of life, the brand will take it back and deal with it for them. They like hearing the story about recycled materials. Are they connecting all of those things as a circular economy? Some yes, but not necessarily. I don’t know if they necessarily have to today, but eventually I hope that will be pretty common for people to know and understand.” Tune into VP of Sustainability James Rogers’s interview with The Cool Down to learn about Rothy’s role in the intersection of style and sustainability in today’s fashion industry. https://lnkd.in/gJ8EN_HK
