💰€1.5bn deal news🤝 to close out the day... Leading for buyer Stonepeak were an elite trio of New York and London firms: 1. Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP 2. Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP 3. Hogan Lovells Neel Sachdev and Matthew Merkle, heavyweights of Paul Weiss's London office, led alongside Head of LA Eric Wedel. Hogan Lovells put forward New York-based asset finance partner Mehtap Cevher Conti, who specialises in aviation and transport, alongside Washington DC regulatory partner Ed Fishman. Spanning both sides of the Atlantic, the Simpson Thacher team was led by New York’s Eli Hunt and London’s Paul Foote. On sell-side, Latham & Watkins advised longstanding client The Carlyle Group, with Stefano Sciolla leading in Milan and Alexander Benedetti in Paris. https://lnkd.in/dtpUaqZE

Building on its hire of a Linklaters partner last month, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP has recruited a leveraged finance duo from Sidley Austin. The partners joining are Bryan Robson and William Gwyn. They joined Sidley Austin in 2016 from Kirkland & Ellis. Wheatly MacNamara, the managing partner of Simpson Thacher’s London office, said: “The addition of Bryan and Will follows the firm’s hire of leveraged finance partner Dan P. and will bolster our European financing capabilities, providing clients with sophisticated transactional support for critical mandates.”
