The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted a €100 million loan to the Italian Marcegaglia Group to support an investment plan worth €170 million. The plan aims to enhance energy efficiency, decarbonization, and automation at the group's key facilities in Ravenna, Gazoldo degli Ippoliti (Mantua), and San Giorgio di Nogaro (Udine). The funded initiatives, to be completed by 2028, will enhance the digitalization and automation of logistics at the Ravenna and Gazoldo degli Ippoliti plants, further improve the decarbonization of one of the galvanizing lines in Ravenna, and develop an innovative low-carbon, high-energy-efficiency technology for electrical steels. As I prepare for my talk with Christina Taylor. I’ve been reflecting on the concept of sliding doors—those pivotal moments that shape the direction of our lives. For me, as someone who’s half Samoan and half English, I know I wouldn’t have pursued engineering if I hadn’t seen it as a real possibility growing up. We can only be what we see. One way we can open those doors wider for future generations is by actively working with and supporting businesses owned by Māori and Pacifica. Supplier diversity isn’t just about opportunity—it’s about visibility. By partnering with these communities, we make these career paths more accessible, and we help create an industry where everyone can see themselves. Welcoming new members of Hyme's board of directors 👨💼👩💼 The grand opening of our pilot facility in Esbjerg (Denmark) marked an important milestone for us. Entering this next chapter of the journey we have invited more experts into the Hyme Board of Directors. Hyme therefore welcomes Jakob Thomasen and Carsten Riisberg Lund as new board members. Adding their skill and experience to the team, we have what it takes to support us in bringing a new #thermalenergystorage technology to the market. Jakob has previously been CEO of Maersk Oil and member of the Executive Board of A.P. Moller-Maersk and is a highly experienced leader in the energy sector. He has significant board experience in both corporate and start-up settings and will take on the role of Chair of the board. Carsten has a background as member of the Executive Management Board of FLSmidth and brings extensive board experience and a deep understanding of project delivery and project path to market. The two will join the existing members: Barbara Taudorf Andersen, Vice Chair, Torben Wind and Ask Emil Løvschall-Jensen. We are excited to continue the work together with the board to provide a groundbreaking solution for the decarbonization of #industrialheat and #utilities.
