International Day of Climate Action falls on the 24th of October every year to raise awareness of the pressing need to address climate change. 🌏 Climate action means one of two things: Firstly, reducing harmful emissions that cause this rapid rate of climate change. Secondly, improving our adaptation to the effects of climate change, such as rising sea levels, flooding and drought. 🌊 In our latest blog post we discuss sustainable ways we can manage this and how we can all do our bit. We are not used to wildfires in the Northeast. Fossil fuels continue to heat up our planet and there will be no place to escape the heated Earth. Q: What do these wildfires now occurring in the Northeast tell us about the ongoing struggle against climate change A: Hilary Howard: That it's completely unpredictable. The Northeast over the last 10 years has been known for its historic flooding and its general saturation of the earth. Replanting and restoration efforts are now essential, but they must be backed by innovative approaches to ensure forest resilience. Governments, NGOs, and communities are working together to restore these vital ecosystems, helping combat climate change and protect biodiversity. Our forests are disappearing fast—it's time to act now.
