The inaugural Africa Impact Summit took place last year, a chance for leaders and industry experts to share and exchange on the most critical topics in impact investing on the continent. Marking Africa’s first impact investing summit, this was a collaboration between impact investing National Advisory Boards across the continent (such as ourselves), the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship and The Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG). Is Impact Accounting an Angel or a Demon? Panel discussion on "the limitations and possibilities of impact investing" at the largest startup conference in Asia. I will raise issues regarding the undemocratic decision-making mechanisms in impact investing, namely, "whose voices matter?". Additionally, I will address the "iron cage" phenomenon, where humanity and freedom are lost due to the pursuit of rationalization, efficiency, and calculability.
