Understanding the Impact This #CAPMonth, let's look at the numbers: Over 650,000 children were found to be victims of maltreatment in the US last year, and this is likely an underestimate. Behind these numbers are real children facing real challenges. But there's hope – through our collective efforts, we can make a difference. Initiatives like Digital Advocacy Day, Wearing Blue Day, and donations to Prevent Child Abuse America or state chapters play a crucial role. These actions strengthen our fight against child abuse and neglect, ensuring every child has the chance to grow up in a safe, loving environment. The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $12,000 South Dakota Fund grant to East Central CASA Program. Funding will be used to support strategic planning initiatives focused on volunteer recruitment, retention, and fundraising efforts to strengthen the organization and better serve the children and achieve long-term goals. Established in 2002, East Central CASA Program currently has 43 volunteers that are appointed to over 1,000 abused and neglected children in ten counties in the Third Judicial Circuit. CASA volunteers and staff work to ensure the children they represent have a voice in a complex court system and receive the support they need to thrive. Volunteers seek to promote and protect the best interest of the children by providing skilled, dedicated, and compassionate advocacy efforts. 💭 Winston Churchill once said, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we #give." This understanding of the value of giving stems from our quest for the #pursuitofhappiness. In a book I read last year, Happy Money: The Science of Happier Spending, the authors had conducted extensive research and discovered five powerful ways #money can foster happiness. 🙌🏼 One such approach is #investing in others through acts of #giving, such as #donating to #charity or #volunteering time. The fundamental principle: Helping others reveals one of the secrets to #happiness. 😊 🏠 I am proud to be a part of the Evoke Wealth Management family with Athishay Gangadharan, Howard Reizun, Craig Petrassi, and Valbona Camaj because of what we stand for and the #impact we want to make. #conciouscapitalism #evokewm #legacy
Congratulations are in order! 👏 We’re proud to announce our friends at Evoke Wealth Management as winners of the #KestraAscend Community Service Award. This accolade is awarded to firms who are paving the way by bettering the lives of their clients and the broader community. The Evoke team donated their award winnings to TAARA, a foundation built to help raise awareness, advocacy and rehabilitation for human trafficking survivors.

Domestic violence is a widespread issue that affects millions of individuals across the globe, transcending boundaries of age, race, and socioeconomic status. It manifests in various forms, including physical, emotional, psychological, and financial abuse, leaving deep and lasting scars on survivors. In the face of this pervasive problem, numerous organizations have dedicated themselves to providing essential support and advocacy for those impacted by domestic violence. These charities play a critical role in offering safety, healing, and hope to survivors, while also working tirelessly to prevent further abuse through education, policy advocacy, and community engagement. https://lnkd.in/gx78wBaB

Over the past month, I have stepped into the role of Project Manager, working closely with Cait Alexander, the founder of EVE, a registered non-profit organization in Canada dedicated to “Ending Violence Everywhere.” Cait is a survivor of nearly fatal domestic violence. In 2021, despite gathering all the evidence and taking every step a victim could be expected to take, her case was ultimately dismissed due to “The Jordan Ceiling” — a legal framework under the Criminal Code of Canada that guarantees a trial within a specific time frame (18 months for provincial cases). Sadly, Cait’s story is not an isolated incident. It reflects a systemic failure where victims of domestic violence and sexual assault are left unprotected by a justice system that often prioritizes legal efficiency over survivor advocacy. Many survivors face the harsh reality of being retraumatized in their pursuit for justice, only to see their cases dismissed, allowing abusers to escape any and all forms of accountability. EVE’s mission is to break this cycle by ending violence and supporting survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and family violence through direct resources, advocacy, and building a global network of allies. As EVE continues to grow, we have launched a GoFundMe page to provide immediate assistance, amplify awareness, create safe spaces, and drive meaningful change. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant impact on the lives of survivors. If you’re unable to donate, simply following EVE on social media to keep up-to-date with our ongoing campaigns, sharing our mission, and raising awareness are invaluable in supporting this urgent and ongoing cause. Together, we can help create a world where survivors are heard, supported, and empowered to live free from violence. https://gofund.me/6383c35d Instagram: @eve_initiative Cait's Story: https://lnkd.in/e_VUQfbg https://lnkd.in/eq7CSm_Z

Today, we spotlight a few nonprofits who focus on addressing child abuse in the United States 🇺🇸 while being acutely aware of how imperative the work they do is. Studies show that 1 in 7 children in the US has experienced child abuse and sadly the number have continued to grow. While inspiring organizations like; • Child Abuse Prevention Center (CAPC) • The Chadwick Center for Children and Families, CA • Dallas Children's Advocacy Center, TX • The CALL (Children of Arkansas Loved for a Lifetime) • Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranches • CornerHouse • Wyoming Children's Trust Fund • Tennessee Children's Advocacy Centers • Our Kids, TN • KidSafe Collaborative, Tennessee • Memphis Child Advocacy Center • Palmer Home for Children • Blue Sky Bridge, Colorado play a crucial role in preventing and addressing child abuse, offering services ranging from advocacy and therapy to medical care and legal support, There's still much to do for the kids. In our weekly nonprofit research, this week we learned of the increasing funding gap the child abuse sector in the nonprofit ecosystem is currently facing. There are a lot of nonprofits who lack the funding to help more kids. RUOVA partners with these orgs to help them secure the funding to drive positive change. Heal the world begins with the kids. #nonprofit #fundraising #winninggrants
