Thanks to World Animal Protection for revealing who is leading and who is falling behind in the QSR sector in Australia on improving the lives of chickens reared for meat. Out of the list of QSRs, sadly, only Domino's so far has signed the Better Chicken Commitment in Australia. Conventional broiler chicken production causes an array of serious animal welfare problems, including crowded, barren living conditions, painful procedures, and physical and physiological problems associated with rapid growth. 🦆 Like all birds, ducks are not covered by the Animal Welfare Act or the federal Humane Slaughter Act. Killed at only seven weeks old, these ducks are never able to fly or even touch the water. They never forage for food, preen themselves, have mates, or feel the warmth of the sun on their backs. Like billions of other animals, their most basic nature is compromised and their suffering is ignored. Fortunately, the path to a more harmonic and compassionate future is within our control, and adopting a vegan lifestyle can help put an end to this suffering. 🦆 Learn more about ducks here: https://buff.ly/2UJdXYf [Image description: image of baby duck in front of a kiddie pool with text that reads: Each year in the U.S., approximately 27 million ducks are killed for meat.]

Don't set yourself up for failure dear farmers. Many farmers start off on the wrong foot right from the first day they lay the foundation of their livestock pen. Yes, they're animals but they also have the right to a good living environment. Animal welfare is not taken serious in Africa unlike in more developed countries who don't take the welfare of their animals with hands of levity. The day our Animal Welfare organisations take a bold step and give the right punishment to perpetrators of this evil act, the better for us. I called it evil act right? Yes, it is evil to treat animals badly, which also includes not providing a condusive environment for them. I will find time to educate us on how to construct pen house for poultry birds. Let us start from there.
