When building a community in Web3 (applies to non-web3 communities as well) it's crucial to recognize four distinct personas you will come across in your community building journey - 1) Lurker: Observes without participating. 2) Active Audience: Engages with likes and comments. 3) Community Member: Actively participates. 4) Community Ambassador: Represents the community. Now, let's say you have 500 members in a community; one can't expect all of the 500 members to actively talk, participate and engage in the community in the same capacity everyday since a community consists of these four personas. Out of 500 members, 200 members may come under the category of 'lurker', 150 members may come under the category of 'active audience', 100 members may come under the category of 'community member' & 50 members may come under the category of 'community ambassadors'. It is crucial to understand that each persona plays their role in a community, the trick is to move the wheel forward. i.e. converting a lurker into an active audience and an active audience to a community member. Made a YouTube video on the same topic. Please consider giving it a watch: https://lnkd.in/dTF2Qs3F #Web3 #Web3Community #Communitybuilding #Web3CommunityManager

90% of what Discord experts tell you to do is overkill. Look at their 'advice' for 5 minutes, and you'll be told: - Build countless channels for every niche topic - Run non-stop events and promotions - Spend hours tweaking server bots and roles That’s too overwhelming. In just 3 months, I helped a gaming community grow by 40%. All I did was: - Clarified the community’s purpose. - Simplified the server with essential channels. - Scheduled meaningful events, not endless ones. - Engaged consistently with members. - Used focused insights to improve engagement. Simple as that. ❌ Instead of creating a maze of channels, ✅ I streamlined the server for easy navigation. ❌ Instead of bombarding members with events, ✅ I prioritized quality interactions. ❌ Instead of endless tweaking, ✅ I set up a structure that works and focused on community building. All you need to grow and monetize your Discord community is: - Purposeful design - Focused engagement - Meaningful insights - Anything else is just noise.

Every founder wants a thriving community but fails to connect with their users. There's only so much your community management team can do to build a lively community and be the face and voice of your project. But have you thought of how much impact your voice as a founder can have on your community's thoughts and belief in your project? Having an AMA session alone with your members can go a long way in building trust in your community. However, some founders see this as a daunting task yet expect so much trust. When your community sees much of your presence in all communications regarding your project, in no time they will begin to resonate with your voice and that trust will begin to build up in them. It's one thing to provide value through your project or tech but it's a whole different thing to lead the front stage and speak to your community. That kind of energy that breaks through the roofs will be the result you'd get. ____________ My name is Rachel Edeh and I help web3 founders build a thriving community or manage one. Kindly send a DM if you're a founder who needs help with building a thriving community. #web3 #founders #trust #communitymanagement

Building a successful web3 community is more than just following a playbook. It’s about defining clear goals and values and choosing the right platform. Start by identifying the types of posts, content, and interactions you want in your community. For example, do you want members to share links to other events? What about NSFW content? Engage with potential members through 1:1 calls and social media to refine your goals and values based on their feedback. When picking a platform, focus on the key activity you don’t want to compromise on, whether it’s reading articles, hosting watch parties, or streaming games. Also, consider what tools your members are already familiar with to ease their participation. Remember, a community doesn’t need to be active daily to be successful. Success varies—some communities thrive on slow, thoughtful conversations, while others are fast-paced. Building a community takes time and effort. Focus on long-term growth and keep members engaged with regular events and updates. For more tips, follow us on Twitter and Medium, or join our Telegram group to discuss your challenges.

If you are a founder in web3, you already know the importance of community building. But simply talking about it won't get you far. It's time to take action and start building one! Remember, talk is cheap, and action speaks louder than words. So, roll up your sleeves and start creating a community that will support your vision and help you succeed. #web3community
