In line with the goal of our citizen's assembly, today we launch Barber’s Shop Talk, Salon Gist, and Market Square. This initiative helps our volunteers maximize every opportunity they have to engage citizens in their community at little or no cost to them. Barbers shop and Salon play a significant role in the community: 1. _Social hub_: A gathering place for men and women to socialize, share stories, and build relationships. 2. _Personal grooming_: Provides essential hair service and lifestyle grooming 3. _Community news and updates_: A central spot for sharing local news, events, and information. 4. _Cultural preservation_: Salons often reflect the community's cultural heritage and traditions. 5. Mentorship and guidance_: Experienced barbers and stylist often serve as role models and offer advice to younger generations. 6. Stress relief and relaxation_: A place for people to unwind and enjoy some relaxation 7. Support network_: Provides a space for men and women to discuss challenges and receive support from peers. By providing these benefits, a Salon becomes an essential part of the community's fabric, contributing to its social, economic, and cultural well-being. ……simplifying community engagement and improving governance.

I thought I would take a moment to share my thoughts on why community is so important for a start-up.   Businesses rely on their customers and by putting our community first, I've seen how we can harness the power of the customer for more sustainable growth:   ❤️ Retention: you can develop stronger brand loyalty through regular content & events with a clear feedback loop ❤️ Brand love: create a network of brand ambassadors who want to talk about what you have to share ❤️ Innovation: who better to learn from than those who are already your loyal supporters ❤️ Experience: as the saying goes "people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel"   How do we then attribute the importance of community into quarterly budgets when success isn't as easy to measure as units sold?

COMMUNITY 🤝 Humans are not designed to live independently. In many ways, we are more connected now than we have ever been. And yet, loneliness is at its highest. This has serious consequences for the nation’s health. In fact, people with the lowest social interactions are far more susceptible to disease and premature death. Being part of a community—something bigger—creates a sense of belonging. Somewhere ideas can be shared, and stories told. Where stress is reduced and connections are formed. And this can only be truly effectively done face-to-face. Aside from seeing our game-changing Hunter & Gather Mayonnaises on Tesco shelves (and flying btw 🚀 😊), being part of the Tesco Accelerator community has been a powerful experience. At times, working in a scale-up can feel lonely. And yet, events like yesterday’s networking day at Tesco HQ remind you that you are part of something bigger. A community of people and brands on a mission to change the world in their own way. A space where ideas are shared, and support is given to each other. Hats off to the Tesco Accelerator Team for doing more than just offering a chance for up-and-coming brands to sell products in your shops. You’ve created a special community of people and brands, where people can openly share their thoughts, wisdom, emotions, and feelings in an inclusive way. Before discovering scalable customer acquisition methods for my last startup, which scaled 19x, I focused heavily on event hosting. Each event provided valuable insights into our buyer personas and led to service sales. It’s a very efficient way to maximize talking to multiple potential customers in the same place without extra hassle. Engaging with your community through hosting and attending events is a powerful strategy. Many people prefer supporting local businesses, and events offer a great way to connect with them. Your events don't have to be directly related to your product, but having an information or demo booth can be beneficial. Participating in events organized by others is equally important. Charity functions and university events are perfect opportunities to showcase your products or gain publicity through sponsorship. These interactions foster community bonds and enhance your brand visibility. Connecting with your community through events, both your own and others, is a key strategy for growth and brand awareness.

What a week it’s been!! Wrapped it up last night providing support and some of the programming for the Beverly Main Streets block party. We brought some of our favorite magicians, cirque performers, faeries and pirates to the party! Community events like the Downtown Block Party are essential for vibrant cities, fostering a sense of belonging and shared identity. These gatherings strengthen social bonds, boost local economies, and create lasting memories that define a town's character. By showcasing local talent - from musicians and artists to food vendors - these events create a powerful synergy. Hiring local talent ensures authentic representation of the community's unique flavor while providing a platform for homegrown skills to shine. This approach supports the local creative economy, inspires young talent, and creates a positive feedback loop of community pride and participation. Ultimately, community events powered by local talent don't just entertain; they strengthen the fabric of our shared urban experience, making our cities more connected, culturally rich, and resilient.

Zion Tech Hub hosted Williams Tomide Sodunke yesterday for an insightful seminar on strategically positioning yourself for the most amazing opportunities. I gained so mush value from the session and these are the key points that stood out for me. -Building your personal brand and having a strong online presence is the first thing you need to do while seeking for amazing opportunities. -Use social proof to build your online trust and credibility, because your results will showcase your value and bring the right monetary opportunities to you. -Get more experience and be good at what you do because there is no better way to improve on your skills than practicing them. -Change your actions to change your results. -Take 100% responsibility for your life and stop blaming people for your mistakes and misfortunes.
