Big Milestone Alert! Today marks the beginning of an exciting 10-day UCS training in Kibaha, a significant step in empowering community health efforts in Pwani! Since 2019, we've worked closely with Community Health Workers (CHWs), ADDOs, and Health Facilities (HFs), who have made tremendous progress with the #AfyaTek system, now officially handed over to the government. With the support of the Wizara ya Afya Tanzania, PO-RALG, UCS national trainers, and teams from #ApothekerTz, D-tree and Kibaha Town Council, we are guiding these groups through the transition to UCS. This training will help strengthen the trilateral linkage between CHWs, ADDOs, and HFs, ensuring even greater community health impact. Excited for what’s ahead as we embark on this next chapter in healthcare strengthening across Pwani and Tanzania! #UCSLaunch #CommunityHealth #EmpoweringCommunities #UCSTraining Kibaha Town Council

At the end of its scoping mission, the HeDPAC delegation had a fruitful discussion with the Ministry of Health team led by Secretary General Dr. Issa Ouedraogo. The health sector is doing commendable work at the primary level with a well-structured community health system program, with Agents Itinérants de Santé (AIS) being transitioned into more qualified positions as Agents de Santé Communautaires (ASC). Community mobilisation is a strong component of the community health programme with engagement of youth, men, and women as well as indigenous community based organizations. Key recommendations were discussed and agreed upon, including rationalizing the allocation of ASC in health posts and ensuring adequate time in the community to address pressing health challenges, expanding career pathway opportunities for future growth, capacity building, supply system improvements and digitalization, among others. HeDPAC will work with the #MOH to build strong and resilient community health programme. #BurkinaFaso #communityhealth #capacitybuilding #digitalization #futuregrowth #HeDPAC

Tanzania Mainland🇹🇿 has 26 administrative regions each divided into 139 Districts, 184 councils ,3,926 Wards, 12318 Villages, 4263 Mtaa and 64384 rural hamlets. For the placement of 2 Community health workers for each kitongoji and Mtaa, the country requires 137,294 total community health workers. The demand is still high , as CHWs need to be people centred in which every community group should have his own CHWs Example: Bodaboda need to have their CHWs, community business groups need to have their CHWs etc. The future is convincing as this Integrated Community Health workers program in Tanzania will continue to upgrade the number of CHWs to meet full demands of the existing community.
