This November, the PhD conference People-City-Transport, organised by PhD students from our department, will take place for the second time, following its successful inaugural run last year. Join nearly twenty international PhD students who will present their research in urban studies and transport! The call for abstracts is open until September 15th! Conference annotation The People-City-Transport 2024 is a free PhD conference organised by PhD students for PhD students at Fakulta architektury ČVUT v Praze. The event is hybrid, both in place and online. The conference aims to allow PhD candidates and young researchers to discuss their research with senior researchers and practitioners. The conference focuses on urban mobility and aims to foster an interdisciplinary approach encompassing behavioural, sociological, environmental, and technical perspectives. This broad scope encourages knowledge transfer and the development of competencies to address current urban mobility issues. A conference book of extended abstracts will be issued. Research work and research activities are essential for the completion of the PhD degree. For this we need qualified research oriented professors, research infrastructure structure, research plans, projects, environment and activities and dedicated research scholars and a supportive system. Imagine if in an institution where nothing such things exist and institution awards PhD degrees not in dozens and not in hundreds but in thousands, then what will be future of that land where such institutions are flourishing. How such things happen in the era of fast social media and technological advancements and array of regulating agencies? Is our corrupt political system and immorality of person and society responsible for such a scenario? Will such scenario prevail in the walk of recent innovations like libral distance education, online education, double degree provisions and so on? Please do comment on all the aspects of the questions raised in above lines. Vandematram!!!

But the struggle/fight goes on! 🚧🚧🚧💥🎓

Universität Rostock was delighted to welcome #EUCONEXUS colleagues from across Europe for an in-person meeting of the team working on all opportunities for #PhD students. The two-day meeting took place in the City of Rostock during the same time as the 2024 PhD Summer School.   The overarching theme of the meeting was how to better support researchers of the European University alliance and encourage cooperation to find solutions to many of the challenges included under the topic of Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability. Our member, The National Archives, UK is calling for expressions of interest from academics to co-supervise a Collaborative Doctoral Partnership (CDP) PhD. There are four CDP studentships available, to start in the academic year 2025-26. There is an applicant webinar taking place on 23 July 2024, 12-1pm. Ideas for interdisciplinary projects are encouraged, especially related to: ◼ The use of digital technologies and/or advanced analytical methods; information and knowledge management, including computational approaches. ◼ Inclusive research into The National Archives’ collections and inclusive practice, with a particular focus on underexplored collections and new ways of engaging with global history through the collections. ◼ Environmental arts and humanities, responding to urgent questions around sustainability and environmental issues.
