ASTEC has acquired Life Whisperer's AI analysis technology in the field of IVF. With this acquisition, we believe that we can add significant value to the services derived from the existing and new time-lapse incubators that ASTEC will be launching in the near
future. While image analysis of embryos using AI is an important element in embryo culture, it is not everything. The core of ASTEC's business is to offer better services to hospitals and patients. We will continue to collaborate with various companies to provide the highest quality incubators and the best services.
Life Whisperer is one of the world leaders in AI analysis for IVF. It predicts the likelihood of pregnancy and euploidy from a single static image of a blastocyst. In very near future, it will also be able to analyze unfertilized eggs. Since the analysis can be performed with microscope images without relying on time-lapse incubators, we believe that this service can be offered as affordably as possible, allowing more laboratories to benefit from AI analysis.

🔬 Understanding Chromosomal Abnormalities in IVF: The Crucial Role of PGT-A 🌟
In the journey towards parenthood, many couples turn to In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) with hopes and dreams of starting or expanding their families. However, one significant challenge in IVF is the presence of chromosomal abnormalities in embryos, which can lead to implantation failure, miscarriage, or genetic disorders in the newborn.
What Are Chromosomal Abnormalities?
Chromosomal abnormalities occur when there are missing, extra, or irregular portions of chromosomal DNA. In the context of IVF, these abnormalities can drastically affect the success rates of embryo implantation and the health of the resulting pregnancy.
The Need for Pre-implantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A)
PGT-A is a revolutionary genetic test that screens embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before they are implanted in the uterus. This advanced technique helps in selecting the healthiest embryos, thereby increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy and reducing the risk of genetic disorders.
Benefits of PGT-A in IVF:
Higher Success Rates: By identifying and selecting chromosomally normal embryos, PGT-A significantly improves implantation rates and reduces miscarriage rates.
Healthy Pregnancies: Ensures that the transferred embryos are free from chromosomal abnormalities, leading to healthier pregnancy outcomes.
Informed Decision-Making: Provides prospective parents with crucial genetic information, enabling them to make informed decisions about their reproductive choices.

✨ Navigating the IVF Journey ✨
Are you considering IVF fertility treatment? Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of what to expect:
1. IVF Doctor Consultation, Blood Tests and Ultrasound
Before starting IVF, you'll meet with a fertility specialist who will assess your medical history and conduct various tests to evaluate your reproductive health. Blood tests are often performed to check hormone levels and assess ovarian reserve.
2. Down Regulation
In this phase, medications are used to temporarily suppress the natural menstrual cycle. This helps in synchronizing the timing of follicle development during ovarian stimulation.
3. Ovarian Stimulation
During this phase, you'll receive fertility medications to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. Ultrasounds and blood tests are conducted regularly to monitor follicle growth and hormone levels.
4. Egg Retrieval
Once the follicles reach the appropriate size, the eggs are retrieved through a minor surgical procedure called transvaginal ultrasound aspiration. This is usually done under sedation or anesthesia.
5. Fertilization
The retrieved eggs are then combined with sperm in the laboratory. Different fertilization techniques may be used, such as conventional IVF or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), depending on individual circumstances.
6. Embryo Culture
Fertilized eggs develop into embryos during this stage. Embryos are cultured in a special incubator under controlled conditions to facilitate their growth and development.
7. Embryo Transfer
Typically, embryos are transferred into the uterus 3-5 days after fertilization. This is a relatively simple procedure that does not require anesthesia for most patients.
8. Pregnancy Test
About 10-14 days after the embryo transfer, a pregnancy test is performed to determine if the IVF cycle was successful. This may involve a blood test to measure hormone levels or a urine test.
Embarking on the IVF journey can be both challenging and rewarding. Understanding each step can help you feel more prepared and empowered as you navigate through the process. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to the C.A.R.E Clinic for more information 💕 #carefamily

📢 IVF research: First global study confirms AI embryo selection produces the same pregnancy outcomes as embryologists.
We’re thrilled to share that a world-first 3-year study published in peer-reviewed medical journal Nature Medicine has revealed that artificial intelligence (AI) software produces the same pregnancy outcomes achieved by trained embryologists using standard manual assessment, when ranking the best embryo for IVF - while performing the selection ten times faster.
This groundbreaking study, led by Fertility Specialists and Scientists at Virtus Health, including Melbourne IVF’s Professor David Gardner, AM, FAA, Dr Fleur Cattrall, Franca Agresta and Rebecca Kelley, demonstrates that deep learning AI-powered embryo selection provides reproducible and reliable embryo selection, to assist embryologists. 🔬
Virtus Health was the first Australian IVF clinic to introduce AI-powered embryo selection in 2019, and our embryologists have been using it as a support tool for the past few years, enhancing their decision to score and identify the best embryo for transfer.
In an IVF lab, embryos are grown in sophisticated incubators which photograph the growing embryo every 10 minutes. AI software uses deep learning to study the images and identify key factors associated with an ongoing pregnancy.
Until now, AI-powered embryo selection tools - used to support embryologists across the world - have been retrospectively tested. Virtus Health, in collaboration with Vitrolife, took the time and investment to test its effectiveness in a widespread clinical setting.
For patients, this means we will continue to use AI software to assist embryologists in assessing embryos for IVF. Importantly, it gives our embryologists another tool to help accelerate the path to pregnancy for our patients.
At Melbourne IVF, we take pride in leading the way in fertility research and treatment, continually investing in innovation to enhance outcomes for our patients and help them grow their families.
