Based on the incident at the Karolinska Institutet at the end of 2023, it deals with the question of whether and how insurance is possible in research. GBN is quoted in the article on #biobanking: "Great efforts are being made in prevention and risk management. For example, the GBA biobanks regularly check their equipment, have detailed emergency plans, for example for power failures, and have several alarm systems [...] The GBN regularly carries out internal audits in the GBA biobanks and checks the requirements for risk and emergency management. These measures make accidents in the biobanks unlikely, or manageable in the rare event that such a scenario should occur". #biobank

📣 Corporate Insider Scheme Unveiled: Guilty Pleas and Prosecution Declination Amid Biochemical Fraud Case 📅 On May 22, 2024, Pen Yu and Gregory Muñoz admitted guilt in a scheme to obtain discounted products from biochemical company MilliporeSigma and export them to China using falsified documents. ❌ Notably, the Justice Department declined to prosecute MilliporeSigma, citing their prompt disclosure and cooperation. Yu, aided by Muñoz, falsely claimed affiliation with a Florida university, receiving over $4.9 million in discounts. MilliporeSigma's cooperation led to arrests.
