PVBLIC Foundation's program Cumbre de Impacto Iberoamericano will return to the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, on September 27, 2024. The summit will bring together leaders of the highest level, including Heads of State, ministers, high-level executives, change agents, and NGOs, among others, to celebrate and promote strategic collaboration across the Ibero-American region for sustainable development. This event, the only Spanish-language summit held at the UN during this period, will close out #UNGA79 under the theme, "Educational Transformation: Innovation and Sustainability for the Future." This theme highlights a collective response to the global educational crisis, aiming at developing skills and knowledge to tackle contemporary issues like inequality, climate change, and technological disruption. Key outcomes anticipated from the meeting include the formation of impactful alliances and businesses, integration of the SDG agenda into strategic planning, and the incorporation of sustainability at the core of business practices. The culmination of the summit will also feature the Premio de Impacto Iberoamericano 2024 (Ibero-American Impact Award 2024), which will celebrate and recognize a leader for its efforts at helping advance sustainable development in the Iberoamerican region. Listen, be curious and have respectful conversations on eye-level! Space for exchange, dialogue and discussion: this is what European Forum Alpbach has always promised and always delivers. One format in particular made a significant contribution to this: the #EFATalentForum, which Mondi Group co-hosted this year. In an exciting exchange characterised by mutual curiosity, expectations were concretised, career paths outlined and sustainable business solutions explored. Around 50 participants from numerous countries not only impressed with their knowledge, they also impressed with their behaviour - together at the table, letting each other finish, expressing mutual appreciation and very well prepared in terms of content, strong and sustainable relationships were created. And a win-win situation for everyone involved: the company, the participating scholarship holders AND for EUrope. Because one thing is certain: if we are to lead Europe's society and economy into a successful future, we also need a reframing of our image of the continent: instead of isolation, an image of Europe as a global player; instead of sticking to existing patterns, a willingness to create new ones; instead of pessimism, curiosity and joy for what lies ahead. This can be achieved above all through joint action between the generations! I had the honor of participating in LJT (business leaders research network) Boardman's 75th anniversary event at Aalto University, where I was captivated by the keynote delivered by Professor Emeritus Morten Huse from BI Norwegian Business School. His presentation on "Value Creating Boards: A Value Chain Approach" provided deep insights into the evolving role of boards of directors in today’s complex business environment. Professor Huse outlined several critical challenges that boards must navigate in the coming decades, including: - Existential challenges like climate change, migration, and the widening divide between rich and poor. - The importance of Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion in transforming boardrooms. - The impact of AI and digitalization on corporate governance. - The necessity of reinventing boards to stay competitive by embracing dynamic capabilities, absorptive capacity, and ambidexterity. One of the most compelling takeaways was the emphasis on cognitive diversity and the integration of the "Head, Heart, and Hands" in board dynamics. It's clear that the board's role as a competitive advantage for companies is more critical than ever. The insights from this event have further strengthened my commitment to fostering innovation and sustainable development in corporate governance and the business world. In 2024, for the first time the SEGRA Foundation offers an Emerging Champions program. Held a day prior to the Summit, these Emerging Champions will work with Adam Mostogl to dive into conversations about contributing and making transformation change in the regions. Here is a bit more about five of them.... **Alysha Saunders: My motivation to work in the arts stems from a deep-seated interest in integrating the creative and cultural industries into regional planning, legislation, and policy. Essentially fixing a fundamental issue in how regions develop and are invested in. **Kellie Wilkins: If we have the ability and power to create something that prevents even one child from being disadvantaged, then why wouldn't we try? **Paige Zotti: I believe that by addressing economic disparities and promoting sustainable development, we can create environments where everyone has the chance to succeed and contribute to society. **Alyssa Mahar: By leveraging my skills and passion, I aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and the sustainable trajectory of businesses within the regions. **Louise Custance: From my own experiences, I want to offer community-oriented, cost-effective and authentic design solutions and places for regional communities across Australia while sharing more about the opportunities for built environment professionals beyond the city limits. #SEGRA #RRR #regional #emergingcampions

AMBIVALENCE I am sitting with this feeling in the train on my way home to Denmark from my first IDG (Inner Development Goals) Summit in Stockholm. This conference is the most beautifully curated - and important - experience and “bubble” that I have ever been a part of. Full of brave and wise speakers, artists and change makers from around the world - who work for humanity and living things. Now I am on my way back to a “reality” in our fast paced and superficial society where we are less authentic, connected to ourselves, each other, nature and the greater good. What we need and long for as pointed to by speakers. The session with the Israeli Chen Alon and Palestinian Rana Salman from the NGO “Combatants for peace” gave us a feeling of powerlessness AND empowerment at the same time. Also hope for a way to peace in a seemingly hopeless situation because they insist on peace and our shared humanity as the only sustainable solution. Thanks for your courageous stance, IDG! We heard from IDG cases in all sectors e.g. The White House, United Nations and IKEA. The world is looking to business for solutions as a catalyst to achieve the SDGs in time. This means that our businesses needs to transform including ourselves according to WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development. And great leadership transforms the workplace according to Great Place to Work. Speakers also pointed to the value of facing fear, unlearning, bubble-hopping, resilience, recovery and love. Which wolf do you feed: fear or love? Our best hope so far for humanity is the IDGs according to Harvard professor Amy Edmondson famous for “psychological safety”. I know from my experience and others that when we do inner development, we become aware and feel the urgency to respond to this crisis. Then we will open up for new ways of living and working. As Erik Fernholm asked us all “are you acting to avoid discomfort or for who you aim to be? I have a lot of reflections and questions. In this VUCA world, the most important is to ask the right questions and to use our collective intelligence: 1. Should “responsibility” (the ability to respond) as the Nobel Peace Center quoted Dalai Lama on be in the IDGs? 2. How do we make inner development, HR, sustainability, change makers, SDGs and IDGs a “must” AND “sexy and cool” (attractive) to scale this movement/work/transformation faster? 3. How can we give people the visceral feeling of urgency and care coupled with responsibility? A participant from NOCAs IDG-IKEA webinar wrote me that “you made me think and feel more about the IDGs” and “won my heart again on stage” when I shared my story in Gail’s powerful “Epic Failure” TED talk style exercise on courage. Daring to be vulnerable/authentic might be a part of the answer. I have more questions but I’ll save them for conversations with the brilliant people that I connected with. It was a pleasure to meet you, and you have given me gifts of inspiration and perspectives!
