Cities are responsible for 75% of the the #GreenDeal action, but what is the share of resources that reaches them? They are fast and efficient, and hold the trust of the citizens and local businesses - but how much time does it take from project concept to realisation, if EU or national funds must be accessed? The 'Translating the EU Green Deal into local action' conference shares a simple but very clear message: without the cities, the #GreenDeal would be nothing. The promoted solution: channel more resources directly to municipalities, given the fact they can ensure quality of the results and transparency of spending. Conclusions for cities: invest in planning, energy management and project design. Invest in knowledge and skills. Invest in communication and community engagement. It all comes together.
