On today, May 1,2024, the WASH Legislative Caucus and the House Standing Committee on WASH and Environment conducted an assessment of abandoned water and sanitation facilities constructed by the Government of Liberia with 40 million USD funding support from the Africa Department Bank in 2017, since these facilities were constructed, the Government failed to turn them over to the communities, it was established that there was no proper management plan and individuals from the LWSC disconnected the communities and providing water to companies for their personal benefits. As the result of the Lawmakers visit, those companies have been disconnected and over 40 thousand residents are expected to receive safe drinking water from May 2,2024. This is strong political leadership! The right to WASH is a fundamental human right.
