Over the past weekend, we participated in our first consumer show of 2024 at Planted Expo and the experience was truly unparalleled. As a CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) brand, it is crucial to engage directly with customers, and events like these provide unparalleled opportunities to establish meaningful connections. Meeting customers in person, hearing their real-time feedback, and witnessing their genuine enthusiasm for your products and brand cannot be overstated. We embraced the chance to meet our audience face-to-face and create lasting, positive impressions. The response at the show exceeded our expectations as we showcased our existing products and gave attendees a sneak peek of an upcoming launch. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive and we couldn't be happier with how well it went! We had numerous loyal customers visit our booth, share invaluable feedback, and reaffirm their love for Plant Up. It was truly heartening to see their continued support. We also had the pleasure of introducing some skeptical visitors to our products, who confessed to initially hesitating until they tried them at the expo. The power of sampling became evident as they became instant converts and are now enthusiastic about making purchases. This experience served as a great reminder of how sampling can push potential customers to become actual customers. The rush on the first day was thrilling! Despite having a team of just five, we hustled to keep up with the demand. It was a testament to the high demand for our products and the fantastic response we received at the expo. We want to give a huge shoutout to the Planted Expo team for organizing such a seamless event. Our exhibition team didn’t initially agree with my decision (just a regular Wednesday in the office) I asked them to focus primarily on trade shows where our competitors are also present, as it went against their business instincts. Let me explain. Post-event engagement solutions are still not a 'thing', yet. Surprisingly, even though corporate planners overlook $10 billion in post-event business opportunities (check one of Julius Solaris’s recent posts and the Forrester 2023 report), they still allocate more than 95% of their budget to pre-event marketing endeavors. For planners to realize there are so many opportunities they can seize for just a fraction of their budget, these solutions need to be visible and enter their comprehension zone. It’s like how a row of shoe stores sits next to each other on Main Street... What would you do for your exhibiting strategy? There are some great solutions out there, and I’m pleased they’re starting to gain recognition in the industry. The more solutions like Kampfire attend conventions for event planners and marketers, the better visibility and validation for post-event marketing solutions. While exhibition rates are more broadly aligning with inflation this year, specific areas, such as material handling rates, continue to outpace inflation, according to the findings of the 2023 Annual Survey of Exhibition Rates, recently released by The Exhibitor Advocate.
