🐷 Over the past few decades, Europe’s food system has become increasingly dominated by animal factories, confining tens of thousands of animals in crowded, tightly packed industrial facilities. This has led to damaging impacts on animal welfare, the environment, local communities and public health. 👩🌾 Luckily, a movement for better food and farming is growing, demanding local communities and small-scale farmers be given the power and resources to produce and distribute food sustainably. ✊ On this #WorldFoodDay, we are excited to launch a new series of testimonies and portraits from across Europe, spotlighting the courageous efforts of local communities and activists resisting the adverse effects of animal factories and industrial food production. 🌱 These stories showcase the power of collective action in building a future where people, animals, and the environment come first. We’re proud to introduce TransformDairyNet (TDN), a visionary European project dedicated to advancing Cow-Calf Contact (CCC)—a practice that keeps calves with their mothers for months, promoting better animal welfare and health. With 26 partners across Europe, TDN will establish 11 national hubs to share knowledge, develop solutions to CCC challenges, and support farmers in adopting sustainable practices.
