Join us at IEMA Connect 2024 for one of our unmissable keynote sessions: 'From standards to action: kickstarting SMEs sustainability reporting in developing countries' Transparency in the form of sustainability reporting of an organisation’s economic, environmental and social impacts is a crucial driver for sustainable development. However, developing countries have very few resources or in-house expertise to embark on comprehensive reporting processes, and qualified external service providers are not yet established. In this panel session, a team from the University of Southampton, led by Professor Prof Ven Tauringana, his colleagues and two undergraduate and postgraduate students discuss how they helped 105 organisations in Uganda and are now helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK to produce a sustainability report. They will be joined by Dr Cerys Baigent PhD, Director of Quality and Regulatory Assurance, Alpha Laboratories Ltd., and Helen MacNair, Technical Director, Lionel Hitchen Limited, who they have assisted in preparing sustainability reports using Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) sustainability reporting standards. Professor Tauringana will also outline how the team intends to work with 200 lecturers, 1400 students and 280 SMEs from 10 developing countries to help SMEs produce their first sustainability reports. A report done by Ecopreneur.eu - The European Sustainable Business Federation in 2021 showcase that sustainable #sme hold the key to a more circular economy. even though the report proves a whole transition of the #sme to become a sustainable operating #sme is recommended, but i think it leaves behind the #sme that operate to serve big enterprise in their supply chain a bit harder to accept such change. Gdańsk University of Technology is in second place in Poland in THE Impact Rankings 🇵🇱 🎉 We were ranked 401-600 in the world and 2nd place in Poland in the prestigious international ranking assessing the university's involvement in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals - The Impact Rankings 🌿 THE ranking takes into account the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The number of points obtained by Gdańsk Tech in this year's edition was 73.9 out of 100, which means an increase year-on-year by 8.9 points and advancement in the global ranking from positions 601-800 to positions 401-600, and in the national ranking from positions 4- 8 for 2nd place 📈↗️ In 2024, we are implementing 12 of the 17 sustainable development goals and we are the leader in the ranking in Poland for three goals: 6. Clean water and sanitation, 12. Responsible consumption and production and 17. Partnerships for goals. Additionally, we ranked 1-3 for Goal 11. Sustainable Cities and Communities and 1-4 for Goal 7.
