When false claims and worrying narratives surrounding refugees spread out, it's our duty to intervene and contrast this phenomena, most and foremost to protect those who are targeted and that should always be protected by the right to a safe refuge, which include the respect of their human dignity. For this reason we are very happy to announce that thanks to the REFUGIN Project , we have a great training available!  🧑🏫Together with the longstanding one, dedicated to Educational and Civic professionals working with displaced youth through 3 modules (available here 📌 https://shorturl.at/MjYsn) , this amazing project has now designed a training initiative for Youngsters in Refugee-like situations! This short course is specially designed for young people navigating the challenges of displacement, and throughout its 4 modules aims to enhance their skills across interpersonal, intrapersonal, and socio-cultural dimensions. It aims to provide support, tips, and suggestions so these can better manage their new challenges! Use Case Alert ⚒ DIME learns to empower refugees across 13 countries with education insights The Habesha Project, part of DIME under USCRI Latin America and the Caribbean transforms higher education for refugees, benefiting students from countries like Syria. But the team faced a challenge many international NGOs know well – valuable insights from their refugee education programmes were scattered and hard to capture. Feedback was collected but there was no systematic way to track the lessons learned that existed. Enter Propel – now embedded into their Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning processes, they have a dynamic platform to easily capture, share and act on knowledge. Education is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of societal development. In countries like Ukraine and Sudan, where conflict has disrupted educational systems, implementing comprehensive policies to support the resumption of education is crucial. Educating children provides them with the skills and knowledge they need to rebuild their communities and contribute to a peaceful and prosperous future. By prioritizing education, governments and international organizations can help ensure that children in Ukraine and Sudan have the opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute to a brighter future. 🌍 Advocating for Change: Empowering Cameroonian Refugees in Nigeria 🌟 Before 2019, Cameroonian refugees in Nigeria faced a bleak reality - access to tertiary education seemed like an unattainable dream. But today, thanks to dedicated advocacy efforts, we've seen a remarkable transformation in their educational opportunities. I'm Ayuk Peterkings Ayuk, and I'm proud to have played a part in this journey of change. By organizing a crucial meeting with the country representative of UNHCR Nigeria, we sparked the beginning of a new era for Cameroonian refugees. It was during this meeting that the doors to tertiary education and scholarship opportunities swung open for them. I vividly remember the discussions with Caritas, who initially limited their support to high school education. Through perseverance and a shared vision for a better future, we pushed the boundaries and expanded support to include tertiary education. Today, hundreds of Cameroonian refugees have access to scholarships like DAFFI and UNICORE, paving the way for a brighter tomorrow. As we celebrate the success stories of those who have graduated and those currently pursuing their dreams, I'm filled with hope for what lies ahead. Just recently, I had the privilege of assisting students with their applications for the UNICORE scholarship 2024, and I'm eagerly awaiting positive outcomes. But our journey doesn't end here. We must continue to champion initiatives like the 15 by 30 strategy, ensuring that by 2030, at least 15% of refugees worldwide have access to tertiary education. Education - a lifeline for refugees. On #WorldRefugeeDay I still find hope in #Education When refugees flee, their lives are disrupted, future plans halted and for children - learning stops! The statistics should shock us! Of the 117.3 million displaced population in the world, 40% are children under 18. Half of them are #OutofSchool especially girls. The higher the education ladder, the steeper the drop-off in numbers. However #Inclusive education in an opportunity for all. ✅ It ensures peace, prosperity and wellbeing = social cohesion and tolerance ✅ If refugee children are educated in national systems, it creates pathways for recognised qualifications and employment = boosting host economies ✅ It brings new investments in the form of new classrooms and learning materials and teachers. As crises become more protracted, we need; ✅ fully inclusive education systems ✅predictable and accelerated multi-year financial support ✅gender-responsive education planning ✅coordinated multi- stakeholder exchange of best practices But above all #Peace #RaiseYourHand
