🏆 Euro NCAP and UK’s What Van? Applaud Ford's Commitment to Business Safety 🏆 At this time of year, in the festive season, when city and household deliveries are so prolific, a safer van is the perfect gift for all. Euro NCAP aims to provide safety information to individuals purchasing vans, whether as a single tradesman or as a fleet ordering a few thousand units. In collaboration with the UK’s What Van? Awards, today Matthew Avery, Euro NCAP’s Director of Strategic Development, presents Ford in Europe with the Safety Award for the Transit Courier. Ford also receives a ‘commended’ for the Transit Custom. On Ford's behalf, LCV Product Manager Laura Harrison accepts the award. 👏 "Congratulations once again to Ford for producing a highly safe van, ideal for businesses and fleets. This vehicle combines state-of-the-art active safety systems to keep drivers as well as company profits safe. This follows on from Euro NCAP’s successful launch of heavy goods vehicles testing last month. Euro NCAP now provides safety ratings for a wide range of vehicles, from vans (2 tonnes) to heavy trucks (up to 44 tonnes), ensuring safer options for business transport are always available," lauds Matthew Avery. 🚚🛻 Read the full press release here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gT_3fXrA 🚙 Know more about their results here 👉 https://lnkd.in/emg9pScZ 🚙 #ncap #euroncap #safety #forsafercars #forsafervans #howsafeisyourcar #saferroads #safety #rating #roadsafety #drivesafely #cars #safercars #safetyratings #consumerprotection #electricvehicles #crashavoidance #vans #commercialvans #smallpanelvans #fleet #logistics #highways #city #fleetmarket #Ford

🏆 Business Safety: Platinum ratings for Ford Transit and Chinese Farizon SV 🏆 Euro NCAP believes small businesses or fleet managers purchasing vans should have access to the same safety information as regular consumers, and evaluates 95% of vans available on the European market. Today, Euro NCAP releases ratings for two vans: the #Ford #Transit and #Farizon #SV, both of which are awarded Platinum ratings for the high level of safety technologies fitted into the vehicles. 🦺👏 The latest version of the Transit excels in all areas, becoming the latest commercial van from Ford to gain a Platinum rating. With safety technologies on par with modern passenger cars, the Ford Transit offers the highest levels of safety for its drivers and other road users, bringing advanced confidence to driving on European roads. 🛣️ The Farizon SV, from Chinese giant Geely, is the newest and most futuristic offering in this segment and comes with most of the latest safety technologies. These perform well in Euro NCAP’s tests. Speed assistance is the only area where the Farizon did not excel—the van lost points as it does not include a speed control function to actively limit its speed. Despite this, the van’s Platinum rating places it among the best options for those looking for safety. 🚸 "We’ve seen a large increase in the fitment of safety technologies in commercial vans since the EU’s General Safety Regulation (GSR2) came into effect in July 2024. But Euro NCAP’s Platinum rating shows that a van’s performance goes beyond this legislation. We congratulate both Ford for its continued dedication in the safety sphere and Farizon for their high level of safety commitment as their van enters the European market. We would urge fleet managers to consider vans for their businesses that have the Euro NCAP Platinum rating. These are the vehicles that most significantly outperform GSR2 regulations and offer commercial fleets safer choices that prevent crashes or mitigate their severity," says Dr. Aled Williams, Euro NCAP Programme Director. ⚙️🧑💻 Ford in Europe / Ford Motor Company Farizon Auto / FARIZON / GEELY Know more about their results here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQX3M5fk 🚗 #ncap #euroncap #safety #forsafercars #forsafervans #howsafeisyourcar #saferroads #safety #rating #roadsafety #drivesafely #cars #safercars #safetyratings #consumerprotection #electricvehicles #crashavoidance #vans #commercialvans #smallpanelvans #fleet #logistics #highways #city #fleetmarket

🚛 At the Euro NCAP Truck Safe Results and Experience Event on November 20, Luca Pascotto, Head of Road Safety and Global Advocacy at the FIA – Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, will present how global companies can boost their scores in the FIA's Road Safety Index with Euro NCAP's new Truck Safe Rating. ⭐📊 The FIA's Road Safety Index helps companies understand the impact of their operations on road safety and provides a way to report on their ambitions, actions, and results. Just like a carbon footprint, companies can measure their "safety footprint" to set goals and include it as a key figure in sustainability reporting. This doesn’t just benefit a company's employees but also everyone impacted by its operations in road traffic .🚦🛣️ "Euro NCAP has set the standard for safety in passenger cars for over two decades. Extending these assessments to commercial vehicles is a major milestone," says Luca Pascotto. "Companies upgrading their fleets with Euro NCAP's Truck Safe Rating will achieve higher recognition and a greater Road Safety Index Score with the FIA. I look forward to presenting this at the Truck Safe Results Event on November 20." 🚛 🤝 Collaboration is crucial to making the Truck Safe Programme a success. Euro NCAP is working with truck manufacturers, companies, hauliers, and road authorities to ensure that all vehicles on the road – not just passenger cars – deliver safety performance that protects everyone. 🔔 Euro NCAP presents 7 Trucks for testing 🔔 Euro NCAP’s new Truck Safe programme is testing some of the biggest names in the heavy vehicle sector, showing safety can be profitable for the industry . With heavy vehicles accounting for only 3% of traffic on the road but involved in nearly 15% of EU road fatalities, safety has never been more critical. The first seven trucks to undergo testing are: 🔴 DAF XF 🔴 Iveco S-WAY 🔴 MAN TGX 🔴 Mercedes-Benz Actros 🔴 Renault Trucks T 🔴 Scania R-series 🔴 Volvo FH These models are leading the way and the very first to be put through Euro NCAP's new testing. Gaining a best-in-class safety award with a Euro NCAP star rating will mean huge gains for businesses: fewer accidents implying lower costs, increased operational efficiency, and lower insurance premiums. Safety is not just a compliance issue, it’s a business advantage. 💡 “Euro NCAP is creating a market for safety in the HGV sector – an environment where manufacturers know if they innovate and produce new and improved safety features, there is a mechanism that will ensure fleets and industry are incentivised. Euro NCAP will also provide harmonisation – a reduction in the demand and the variety of bespoke configurations or post-registration dealer fit systems. This may currently seem like a challenge for truck manufacturers but actually it is a win-win for all of us. A safer, cleaner freight industry that sustains our comfort and prosperity at a much lower cost,” explains Matthew Avery, Director for Strategic Development of Euro NCAP. 🛣️🚚 The first Truck Safe ratings will be announced on 20 November 2024 at an exclusive media and industry event in collaboration with HORIBA MIRA in the UK. 🤝 Find out more about Euro NCAP's Truck Safe testing here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ejyhC8yF 🚛 #forsafertrucks #roadsafety #visionzero #devslaw #carsafety #euroncap #cityandhighway #trucks #trucksafety #safetrucks #heavydutyvehicles #freight #logistics #fleet #HGVs #Nearside #Turn #technologies #industrypartners #forsaferjourneys

Euro NCAP’s TRUCK SAFE Results are in! For the first time ever, Euro NCAP has turned its attention to the safety of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) with the launch of its TRUCK SAFE rating programme—aiming to raise safety standards across the industry and support Vision Zero, the mission to eliminate traffic fatalities. Why It Matters: - HGV crashes are the most severe on European roads, responsible for 15% of accident fatalities despite making up just 3% of the traffic fleet. - 89% of casualties in HGV accidents are other road users like car occupants, cyclists, and pedestrians. - Safer trucks mean safer roads, better outcomes for businesses, and a lower societal cost. The first results: Nine long-haul trucks, representing 95% of the fleet on Europe’s roads, were assessed on Safe Driving, Collision Avoidance, and Post-Crash Safety: - Volvo FH Aero & FM earned 5-star ratings. - The IVECO S-WAY lagged behind with just 1 star. - CitySafe Awards were given to four trucks for outstanding urban safety features, like advanced braking systems to protect cyclists and pedestrians. What’s next? TRUCK SAFE is set to unify truck manufacturers, hauliers, insurers, and road authorities, helping stakeholders select safer vehicles and harmonise best practices across the industry. Centurion Truck Rental is proud to support safety advancements that protect drivers and road users alike. Let’s keep trucking safely! #TRUCKSAFE #HGVSafety #VisionZero #NCAP

Australian Government Ups Fleet Safety Standards In a move that could set a precedent for the broader Australian automotive industry, the government has tightened safety requirements for its own fleet vehicles. The updated Commonwealth Fleet Vehicle Selection Policy now mandates a 5-star ANCAP safety rating, but with a stricter age limit. Previously, vehicles up to six years old with a 5-star rating were acceptable. Now, only cars manufactured within the last three years (2022, 2023, or 2024) qualify. This stricter policy reflects the government's commitment to prioritizing safety for its employees and potentially influencing the entire industry. With a growing focus on advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and overall vehicle safety, this move could encourage car manufacturers and dealerships to prioritize these features to stay competitive in the Australian market. What this means for you: While this directly affects government fleet purchases, it highlights a growing emphasis on safety in the Australian automotive landscape. This could lead to a wider range of safer vehicles being offered by manufacturers and potentially influence future car buying decisions for everyday Australians. Stay tuned: Keep an eye out for further developments in the Australian automotive industry as safety continues to be a top priority. This might translate into more ADAS features becoming standard or a wider selection of high-safety-rated vehicles on the market.
