At Schmitz Cargobull, we rely on long lorries for inbound logistics. In doing so, we are making an active contribution to a sustainable future. 🌍💡 💡One example: we use long lorries to transport rear doors and end walls for the production of our curtainsider semi-trailers. This reduces the number of transports between our production site in Altenberge and the supplier by a third! 📉💪 We are also trialling other options that can make our internal logistics more sustainable. Today, we launch our new video highlighting the introduction of three new electric trucks for bulk freight in the Nordic region. FUCHS Group and Royal Den Hartogh Logistics acquired these trucks in partnership to demonstrate new ways to achieve greater sustainability. Since the opening of the new FUCHS plant, FUCHS has focused on rebuilding and innovating its logistics processes. When it comes to sustainable transport, we are often talking about mode shifts, alternative fuels, electrification, etc. Whilst those are surely amazing ways to reduce the impact of transport on the environment, there is maybe even an easier way to reduce the CO2 per transported ton...! Besides the above mentioned options, we at Outokumpu are focusing a lot on Payload Optimization. This goes for all modes of transport (Road/Rail/Sea). Every additional ton shipped with the same means of transport, basically goes for free when looking at CO2. To optimize transports between Tornio and Terneuzen, we acquired 3 new vessels of Langh Companies. These vessels are dedicated build to our specifications with a clear aim to maximize the utilization of the vessels. E.g., each vessel has the capacity to load containers on deck, whilst the hatches can still be opened. This is maximizing our ability to fully load the vessel up and down! Having these vessels in use (6 all together) and a very dedicated team, we have reached utilization rates that are surely the highest in the industry! This reduces our CO2 per transported ton substantially. To further increase the cargo capacity in containers, we acquired 150 new containers to the fleet. Olivia arrived early April to Terneuzen to bring the new boxes! Below a short movie of the arrival.
