✈️ Exciting developments in #Strasbourg! Following Ursula von der Leyen' announcement of the Commissioners-designate, E4FC was also present this week in Strasbourg and met with Members of the European Parliament to discuss recent political insights surrounding the new mandate. 👏 With Apostolos Tzitzikostas taking on the role of Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism and Roxana Minzatu as Executive Vice-President for People, Skills, and Preparedness, the focus on integrating transport with tourism while prioritising social rights and quality jobs is vital for the future of the EU aviation sector. We are also pleased to see Stéphane Séjourné, and Wopke Hoekstra, taking charge of the #CleanIndustrialDeal, aimed at driving innovation and enhancing European competitiveness while advancing decarbonisation efforts. E4FC eagerly awaits the final composition of the College of Commissioners and looks forward to collaborating with the new leadership to work on updated aviation policy that meets the industry's key priorities. Together, we can ensure the EU advances its competitiveness on the global stage while promoting its social standards. #FairCompetition #Aviation #Sustainability #EuropeanCommission #E4FC #HighSocialStandards #Connectivity

Moving Europe to the next decade: Europe’s #transport network in times of economic uncertainty 🚆🌐 We were delighted to co-host this Scandria®Alliance event together with Representation of #Brandenburg to the EU 🇩🇪 🇪🇺 and Minister Rainer Genilke. In her opening words, Tuija Telén, Regional Mayor of the Helsinki-Uusimaa region and Vice Chair of the Scandria Alliance, raised for example the following points: 1️⃣ Growing strategic importance of the European Transport Corridors: The Helsinki-Uusimaa region is now in the crossroads of three corridors. For these to function, we need strong funding through the Connecting Europe Facility #CEF and other financial instruments. For Southern Finland’s functioning, #UrbanNodes are especially important, as our ports and airports have a larger function for the country as a whole. 2️⃣ Resilience of the transport sector: We need to have a secure, interoperable, and robust transport system which also enables the movement of heavy equipment, considering regional conditions. 3️⃣ Opportunities for Europe: In the Helsinki-Uusimaa region, we have laid out ambitious climate and investments goals which also target the transport sector. We must share experiences and collaborate to meet the sector’s full potential while matching Europe’s future needs. Warm thanks to Minister Rainer Genilke, Members of the European Parliament Henna Virkkunen & Bogusław Liberadzki, Head of Transport at the City of Hamburg Tina Wagner, Councillor for Transport at the Akershus County Håkon Snortheim, Director for EU Transport and Energy at the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) Karin Smit-Jacobs, MSc., as well as the audience, for insightful discussions on this important subject! Last 10 months have been intense, but the result is outstanding. Today we published the transportation roadmap for Estonia which aim is to significantly reduce the GHG of the sector. Roadmap analyses the movement of people and cargo on all four transportation modes (road, rail, sea and air), analyses the current situation and challenges, provides a visionary outlook for 2040 and describes the needed changes to be done. Green transition is possible, but it it requires strategic cooperation between the government and the sector. Big applause once again to the core team Kadi Jette Tamjärv, Kai Peet, Kersten Kattai, Kaur Sarv, Guldar Kivro, Kalvi Nõu, Olavi Grünvald and all the 60+ major transport sector companies, associations/clusters and university experts, who have actively participated in the discussions!
