Dear CX Professional, It's a tough life out there and more like a dog eat dog world when you are trying to look for a new job. I personally walk into any interview with confidence and certainty that I am by far the very best candidate for the position. Mind you this is not because I do not believe other candidates are not more qualified than I am, but simply because I know my job, i carry it with pride, providing services and making businesses thrive because of my kindness its a huge satisfaction for me. Another reason is because, before I apply for any job, I must know what they are into, this is because a Customer Experience Executive is more or less the business manager. Businesses don't know this, but when you employ a customer service representative, you are asking them to come and determine a huge part of the survival of your business, they determine to a large extent if your yesterdays customers will return after their last experience, the last impression your customer service gives your customers determine whether or not they will recommend your services to prospects. When you employ a customer service representative, you are recruiting the future of your business. Finally Dear CX, it's okay to not be appreciated, it's okay to be overlooked In a workplace. However, do your job and do it so well that when you are not there it's very obvious. Adapting to Change: Moving from Customer Support to Risk-Focused Roles Transitioning from a customer-focused role in Global Customer Support to a risk-focused role in Due Diligence has been both challenging and rewarding. 🌍🔄 At first, the change was tough — going from solving customer problems to identifying risks in business partnerships required a completely different way of thinking. But as I moved forward, I realized that many of the skills I used in Customer Support, like problem-solving, communication, and empathy, were just as useful in Due Diligence. The real challenge was figuring out how to use those skills in a new way. Here are a few tips for anyone making a similar switch: ✨️ Embrace Change: Moving between roles or teams can feel scary, but it’s a chance to learn and grow. Be open to new tasks and responsibilities. 📑 Use Your Existing Skills: Even in different roles, your key skills can still be useful. Whether it’s communication, problem-solving, or managing relationships, you can build on what you already know. 💎 Be Patient: Learning a new role takes time. Give yourself space to grow, and don’t hesitate to ask questions. 👥️ Work Together: Whether you’re in customer support or a risk-focused role, teamwork is important. 🔄 "If I Could Start My Customer Service Career All Over Again…" 🔄 Looking back at my journey in customer service, there’s so much I’ve learned through experience. If I were to start from scratch, here’s what I’d do differently (and what I’d do the same): 1️⃣ Prioritize Active Listening Early: I’d focus even more on mastering active listening from day one. The ability to truly hear what a customer is saying—and what they’re not saying—can transform interactions and build trust faster. 2️⃣ Develop a Deeper Understanding of Product Knowledge: I learned that product knowledge is power. If I were starting over, I’d invest even more time upfront to understand every aspect of the products and services I represent. This empowers quicker, more confident troubleshooting. 3️⃣ Embrace Feedback as Fuel: I’d seek feedback more proactively and see it as an opportunity for growth, not as criticism. The more I embraced feedback in my current career, the faster I improved. 4️⃣ Build Relationships with My Team: A supportive team can make all the difference. Collaboration and shared learning are invaluable, especially in customer service where challenges can be unpredictable. 5️⃣ Practice Patience and Positivity: If there’s one lesson I’d carry with me, it’s the power of patience and maintaining a positive approach. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙄 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙖𝙨: “Only take advice from those who have achieved what you aspire to.” When I was updating my resume, I heard the usual tips: “Just list your responsibilities and apply widely.” But after countless applications with little success, I realized something crucial: 𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩. Instead of saying “Managed a project,” show “Led a project that saved $200K and increased team productivity by 30%.” Instead of “Improved customer service,” say “Enhanced customer satisfaction scores by 25% through a new support strategy.” Instead of “Increased marketing efforts,” write “Boosted marketing campaign engagement by 50%, leading to a 20% rise in sales.” The difference is in the numbers. 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙫𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙢𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨. Seek out advice from those who have successfully navigated your field.
