Today marks Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day. Ovarian cancer is the sixth most common cancer in women. It develops when abnormal cells in the ovaries start to grow and divide, eventually growing into a tumour. If ovarian cancer isn't treated, cancer cells can gradually grow into the surrounding tissues and may spread to other areas of the body. However, ovarian cancer can be treated successfully, especially if diagnosed early. Our Integrated Cancer Campus provides expert-led treatment for ovarian cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month occurs every October, with the goal of raising awareness about the profound impact breast cancer has on thousands of Australians every day - breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. Aligned with this, at Omico, we are conducting an initiative called PrOSPeCT which includes providing comprehensive genomic profiling, at no cost, for people with advanced, incurable or poor prognosis cancers in Australia. If you are a patient living with breast cancer in Australia, you could be eligible for this initiative. To hear from real patients on their experience with comprehensive genomic profiling in their journey with cancer: https://lnkd.in/g8XM4XRd #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #Togethercancermeetsitsmatch #Omico #CGP #ComprehensiveGenomicProfiling

In recognition of World Breast Cancer Research Day, we’re shining a light on breast cancer research and advocating for ongoing clinical trials to help the one in eight women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and improve the way we treat cancer for the future. Recent data is showing a shift in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment delivery with an increase in metastatic cases, which could be a result of COVID restrictions and increase in late diagnosis. We’re proud to operate a strong and growing clinical trials program across all modalities of treatment and cancer types, with 10% of our active trials focussed on breast cancer. With growing cancer rates, we continue our commitment to research and clinical trials and increasing access to new and emerging treatments to reduce the global cancer burden. Ovarian cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths among women, and there have been no meaningful improvements to ovarian cancer screening technology in nearly 40 years. That's why we are so excited to share the verification data of the Mercy Halo™ Ovarian Cancer screening test at ASCO 2024. "This study allowed us to see how far in advance of the presentation of clinical disease our test can detect early-stage ovarian cancer, and at what sensitivity and specificity," CEO Dawn Mattoon, PhD, said. We hope you'll join us in Chicago to learn more about these important results. https://lnkd.in/gADx_EDB #ASCO2024 #earlycancerdetection #ovariancancer #mercybio

🎗️ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀 Early detection is our greatest tool in demolishing breast cancer! 🏗️ Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, affecting around 55,000 women and 400 men each year. In fact, 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed at some point in their lives. It’s crucial for everyone to be aware of the risks and the importance of early detection. More than half of women don’t check their breasts regularly, and 11% have never checked them at all. Let’s change that! Breast cancer is the world’s most common cancer, with about 2.3 million new cases a year – one in eight cancer cases. Early detection results in a five-year relative survival rate of 99%, but in resource-constrained settings, 70% of women with breast cancer can die. Knowledge is key to early detection: research into the causes, signs and symptoms, and treatment of breast cancer improves our understanding of the disease and increases survival rates. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we’re highlighting the research that is contributing to our vital understanding of breast cancer. https://ow.ly/I24w50TzEea #BCAM #BreastCancerAwareness

The side effects of cancer treatment are often cited as the more harrowing part of fighting the disease. But thanks to the success of a clinical trial at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, and a $3.2 million grant from the National Cancer Institute, treatment for certain cancers may come with fewer complications. Brian Hess, M.D., and Shikhar Mehrotra, Ph.D., have partnered on a project to develop “purified” CAR-T cells to treat people with certain B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas who have already tried other therapies. CAR-T cell therapy is FDA-approved for certain types of blood cancer, but the Hollings trial is testing a new patented variation that the researchers hope will have longer-lasting results with fewer side effects. #ChangingWhatsPossible Read more: https://lnkd.in/ewBjKec8 #CancerResearch #cancer

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month! Colon cancer is the 2nd deadliest cancer in the United States following lung cancer, and about 153,020 Americans were diagnosed just last year. That is why this month FuGENE would like to remind you to get screened for colon cancer if you are over the age of 45. Getting a colonoscopy is still the best way to screen for colon cancer. However, there are now other options such as the Cologuard that allows people to screen for colon cancer at home. You can learn more about the different ways to screen for colon cancer here: https://lnkd.in/g2FHAixJ The American Association for Cancer Research website is also a great resource to learn more about colon cancer and how to get involved in the fight. FuGENE will be attending the Annual AACR meeting next month in San Diego. #coloncancerawareness #coloncancer #coloncancerawarenessmonth #FuGENE #AACR #AACR24 #beatcancer #testearly
