Just finished a call with Emma Kettlewell and Tracy Rees Business in the Community and dived straight into their State of the Nation 2024 report. https://lnkd.in/ewYQsCnX The report highlights some critical areas that resonate deeply with our mission at ACT Training Ltd. - Digital and Green Skills: The demand for green skills is growing by 15% annually! The rapid acceleration of technology and the integration of AI across industries mean digital skills are no longer optional but essential. At ACT Training Ltd and ALS Training Ltd we're at the forefront, equipping the future and current workforce with these skills through our innovative training programmes in Carbon and Energy Management and Digital Skills for Business. - Recruitment and Training: Attracting and retaining talent remains a significant challenge, with 57% of CEOs identifying it as a top concern. Our Jobs Growth Wales+ and Apprenticeship programmes are designed to address these gaps, ensuring that people are prepared for the evolving job market and can succeed in a digital-first economy. -Skills Pipeline and Shortages: There are 904,000 vacancies in the UK and just as many people, not in employment, education, or training. Our initiatives aim to bridge this gap, providing clear pathways into meaningful careers. We're dedicated to being part of the solution, supporting individuals and businesses in Wales to thrive. Proud to be at the coal face of these critical issues, driving change and improving lives through learning. #SkillsForTheFuture #GreenSkills #DigitalSkills #Training #Recruitment #Apprenticeships #JobsGrowthWales

The Canada's Best Managed Companies awards are back! Each year, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies undergo a rigorous application process, but only the best are awarded with this prestigious designation. I had the pleasure of speaking at the awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 15 and must say that it was an honour to be surrounded by such outstanding Canadian business leaders. Presented by Deloitte, along with CIBC, TMX Group, and The Globe and Mail, this annual award program spotlights excellence in private Canadian-owned companies with revenues of $50 million or more. We measure beyond financial performance, seeking to recognize the efforts of the entire organization towards the company’s overall performance and sustained growth. At Deloitte, we are consistently striving to make an impact that matters, and we know it's the collective effort of the entire organization that moves the needle in a meaningful way. It’s a big part of why we’re so proud to acknowledge these organizations which have combined their strategic expertise and culture of innovation to not only drive business success, but also serve their communities. A big congratulations again to the 496 winners of the 2024 Best Managed Companies award! Each and every one of you have set a standard of excellence in Canada’s business ecosystem, and Deloitte is proud to serve you on your path of growth and innovation. Fascinating discussions at the NW Growth 35 event hosted by Deloitte at Alliance Manchester Business School We explored how the Northwest region can drive productivity and growth - building more homes, improving transport infrastructure, delivering jobs and skills, and creating technical career pathways for young people. The day began with insight from political heavy hitters, facilitated by Jo Ahmed and Tim Grogan. And then onto a panel discussion on the role of sport and the cultural industries in driving social and economic benefits. A big thank you to our panellists Rachel Wilkey-Pinfield, Jon Dutton OBE, and John McGrath Factory International for sharing their valuable insights. My key takeaways: 🏢 A compelling sports and culture offer has the power to redefine a place - to the people who live, study and work there and to the outside world. ⚽️🎭 Sport and culture can play a unique role in delivering social outcomes, particularly by addressing intractable economic challenges in underserved communities 🤝 Local leadership and cross-sector collaboration are vital enablers for success. The North West region has a strong track record in this regard, but we can do more and work closely with local authorities to deliver benefits to the towns surrounding our major cities. 🌆 Manchester has an inspiring story to tell about building connections between world-class facilities, teams, athletes, artists, and local communities, driving both social and economic benefits. Looking forward to continuing this conversation to drive productivity, growth, and positive change in the North West region! 🚀 #NWGrowth35 #Productivity #Growth #Collaboration #NorthWest #DeloitteEvent Timothy Bridge Andy Tong James Savage

“Finance without strategy is just numbers; strategy without finance is just dreaming.” — Emmanuel Faber, CEO of Danone. ❇️ As I dive into the ‘Finance for Directors’ module, part of my journey toward Chartered Directorship with the Institute of Directors UK, I've fully embraced the concept of a working holiday. Over the next few days, I’ll be traveling across Europe by speed train—Berlin, Munich, Salzburg, and beyond. At this pace, I’m tackling these modules in a new city each day. I first shared the quote above on Instagram, where my friend Bukky George offered a powerful reinforcement: “Strategy without finance is dead on arrival.” This reminded me of something my mother often said: “Ikpa losie ilolo, otoanafo”—in our Igbo language, it means “When a man without resources has great ideas, they remain buried within him.” It’s a poignant reminder that strategy and finance must go hand in hand to achieve success. As directors, we must ensure that we aren’t so risk-averse that we fail to allocate the necessary resources to our company’s big goals. I’m loving this season of growth and exploration, and I’m grateful for the insights and reflections it brings. And I’m not just talking about training! 😊 #ChiefIgniterChronicles #GlobalCEO #LiveFully #BuildingDifferently #UdoonBoard #AceMastermind #MegaBusinessGrowth #BusinessLeadership #AuthenticLeadership

Last week, the second part of the “EY Journey to the Boardroom Program” took place in Munich. This time, the focus of the two days was on the talent agenda. Both days were packed with exciting presentations and encounters. Special thanks go to our speakers: Victoria Tomlinson FRSA from Next-Up, who introduced us to the world of Effective Networking; Rolf Beckers from Spencer Stuart, who provided highly valuable insights into the world of board placements; Markus Heinen, who spoke passionately on the topic "Humans@Center as a Differentiator"; Special thanks go to Carla Kriwet, who shared a lot of very fruitful thought and hands on advice from her personal journey to the board and Georg Graf Waldersee, who shared valuable experiences from his vast board experiences. Of course, we ended the day with a hearty Bavarian dinner and used the evening for networking and discussions about the topics previously addressed. The second day began with an intense and interactive presentation by Victoria Tomlinson FRSA on the topic of personal brand building, followed by Dr. Anja Pissarczyk's presentation on "Personnel Competence – Supervisory Board,". The prominent topic of executive compensation could not be missed – many thanks to Jens Massmann for the enriching presentation and valuable insights. The day ended with a visit to the #EYFourFutures installation at the Munich #EYWavespace. The confrontation with four visions of our future world not only moved us and prompted us to think and act but also prepared us for our next Stop in January, where the main topics will be dealing with ESG, sustainability, and current geopolitical changes. I am already looking very much forward to it! Matters covered in the EY Journey to the Board Program, are career development and the hot topics of today’s board agenda including latest developments in #CorporateGovernance, #Sustainability, #Transformation, #ArtificialIntelligence, #Digitalization, #HumanResource, #SuccessionPlanning, #Geopolitics and #Strategy

With my first semester at Stevens Institute of Technology nearing an end, I'd like to reflect and share my experience that I found the most interesting with the Graduate Consulting Club, Stevens. It was when the GCC organized Case Study Analysis for Strategy featuring Professor Pranav Garg where he talked about Strategy consulting, how to analyze a case study or a business situation, what to look for, and how you can find small details in it to form your strategy. This event was very interactive where he listed out all the points that all of us had to offer after reading the case study and how everything was interconnected. Being a person who's shocked to learn even the smallest details, my mind was blown. I learned the importance of collaboration and critical thinking at the same time, which are essential for success in the consulting industry. Having worked in the consulting industry for a year before coming to the US to pursue my Masters in Finance, I found it insightful and helpful in navigating my passion for consulting. #GraduateConsultingClub #Consulting #ProfessionalGrowth #Networking
