During any growth or turn around project, you usually come across two kinds of team members. Majority are Reporters. They merely state the facts or assumptions about a situation. They are more of 'describers' and act as as helpless spectators. In short, they don't move the needle much except doing commentary on what's going on and what should others be doing. Rainmakers are usually a minority. However, they are the ones who take it on themselves to make things happen. They don't believe in excuses and reasons. They have the ability to get everybody going. Their energy is almost contagious. It creates collaborations and excitement across the teams about the ongoing change. Find your Rainmakers and empower them.

Recovery isn't a race; it's a personal journey filled with ups and downs. Every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory. Keep moving forward, even if it's at a slow pace. Progress is progress, and every effort counts. Remember, the destination is worth the journey. #TheGateHouse #RecoveryJourney #Recoveryisaprocess

This presentation from Nat Bullard - on the state of climate and decarbonization is well worth the time - lots of really good graphs there that helped me get a better handle on where things are (and aren't). https://lnkd.in/ge43T4jb

At Fireflies, we believe in addressing critical issues that impact our lives and future. As a creative house, we aspire to join hands with leaders who are already driving meaningful change. Through our art, we aim to amplify their efforts and spark action. One such pressing issue is clean air—a fundamental right that affects every one of us. It is our responsibility to ask the right questions at the right time, and to stand together for a healthier tomorrow. Today, we share a piece of art that reflects this commitment, in the hope that it will inspire awareness, ignite conversations, and motivate collective action. Together, we can create the change the world needs. Let’s join forces and work for a future where clean air is not just a hope, but a reality. #CleanAir #RightToBreathe #ActNow #Sustainability https://lnkd.in/gAM5tVNA

I find that more and more I'm beginning to look elsewhere, rather than the traditional channels, for information. I'm really grateful to Sam Haddad and Matt Barr for producing content that I can trust, and for giving Re-Action a platform. I'm finding that the mainstream press is struggling to present any story of hope, and as AI grows I feel we will become lost, in a world of fake images, fake videos, and fake stories. On a positive note platforms like Substack are enabling creatives like Sam and Matt to create the content we need. And organisations like Re-Action and 99p Films are bringing people face to face. Here are some of my thoughts from an recent conversation with Sam. “Creativity and art are so key for the problems we’re going to face, and I don’t think people realise that. They think the solutions are based in science but creativity and community and coming together around ideas is so powerful, despite those being the parts that are generally dismissed now in education.” At Re-action, "It's about asking: how can you get a group of people together sat around a table working on stuff? Because that’s when you chat and talk about the sorts of things we’re talking about now. It’s easier to do that in person than it is on social media. AI is going to make it very difficult for us to understand truth on the internet, and what is reality? And I think there will be a big pushback and yearning to be face to face with people."
Award-winning writer & experienced editor specialising in action sports (especially snow & surf), the environment & the outdoors
For this week's Climate & Board Sports newsletter, I interviewed Gavin Fernie-Jones about how money and snow scarcity is changing the Alps, his amazing work with Re-Action, the power of community spaces & how AI might encourage us to reconnect in person. I left our chat feeling more hopeful than I have in a while. Have a read here: https://lnkd.in/ea4zQxda
