If you asked me I would have told you I was a rule follower.
In the hospitality industry, we’re taught that there’s a process, a system, a "right way" to do things. I thrived on that structure and believed following the rules was the key to success.
Not long ago, something shifted. An aha moment if you will, despite my love of structure, I’ve been a disruptor all along.
I wasn’t just following the rules—I was constantly pushing boundaries, questioning the status quo, and reimagining what could be.
Whether it was how we approach guest service, how we treat our teams, or how we lead in business, I was always looking for a better way, not just the "right" way.
Disruption doesn’t mean chaos—it means innovation. It means seeing beyond "how it’s always been done" and having the courage to try something new, even when it’s uncomfortable.
The biggest changes, the ones that transform industries, often come from the quiet disruptors who dare to challenge the norms, even when they don’t realize they’re doing it.
Today, I fully embrace being a disruptor.
It’s not about breaking the rules; it’s about evolving them to better serve people, teams, and businesses.
If I’ve learned anything over the years (and I've learned so so much), it’s this: Progress never comes from staying comfortable.
So here’s to all the rule followers who are actually the disruptors in disguise—keep pushing, keep challenging, and don’t be afraid to shake things up. We're changing the game.
