Did you know? According to KPHC 2009, 24% of the country’s total population is made up of the adolescent youths aged 10-19 years old which translates to 9.2 million. The medium age for involvement in sexual intercourse is 18.2 years for the girls and 17.6 years for men It is also reported that 22% of the boys had their first sex by the age of 15 and 12% of girls had their first sex at the same age. 37% of girls and 44% of boys are reported to have had sex between the age of 15-19 years Around 18% of the adolescent girls aged 15-19 have begun childbearing and 26% of women aged 20-24 years had started childbearing by the age 18.1 and almost 2/3 of the estimated 345,000 pregnancies among the adolescent girls between 15-19 years old are unintended in Kenya as per KDHS, 2009. As a result of this, comprehensive sexual reproductive education is necessary since it equips the adolescent youths with information to enable them make informed decisions about their sexuality. Last week, the world observed World Sexual Health Day, but the conversation around Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and Justice is ongoing! At Girl Up India, we believe in empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools they need for healthier relationships. We’re proud to partner with Allo Health on their critical survey addressing the global theme of STIs & Relationships. With over 1 million STIs acquired daily worldwide, education and awareness have never been more crucial. Contrary to common fears, testing positive for an STI is not the end of a relationship—but understanding your STI status is the first step toward a healthier, more informed partnership through treatment and management. In line with this year’s theme of Positive Relationships, Allo has developed a FREE STI Risk Assessment Tool. It’s simple, anonymous, and designed to help you determine if testing is needed. No login or signup required! ✨ We encourage you to try it for yourself and share your thoughts in the comments below. Together, let’s break the stigma around sexual health and ensure that everyone has access to the resources they need for positive, healthy relationships – https://bit.ly/3XvdAiU World Association for Sexual Health American Sexual Health Association Allo Health Artika Singh Pranay Jivrajka #WorldSexualHealthDay #SexualHealth #STIRiskAssessment #Partnership #Allo #PositiveRelationships #ReproductiveJustice

Happy World Sexual Health Day! Let’s talk about why we invest in pleasure 🌸 The Case for Her uses its investments in underfunded areas of women’s health as opportunities to learn. One thing we learned through our menstruation portfolio was that MH educators working in classroom settings were often restricted from discussing sex, even when asked by the girls themselves. Education can be a powerful tool to drive progress for bodily autonomy and sexual and reproductive health and rights, and integration of MHH and SRHR can strengthen understanding of common biological processes across the life course. So in 2019, The Case for Her opened a new portfolio, Female Sexual Pleasure, where we embrace sex-positivity, where sex is seen as a positive, healthy, and natural aspect of human life where people should be able to “embody, explore, and learn about their sexuality and gender without judgment or shame.” What we’ve learned since then is that taking a pleasure-inclusive approach to sexual health and sex education has widespread impacts that result in better uptake of reproductive health products and services and better sexual health outcomes. You can learn more about the benefits or embracing a positive pleasure approach via our incredible partner The Pleasure Project here: https://lnkd.in/dqcFmfDY #SexualHealthMatters #SexEd #PleasureGap #GenderEquality

A Tip for Dealing with Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Challenges Among Adolescents. Unsafe abortions, teenage pregnancies, gender-based violence, sexually transmitted infections, and poor menstrual health are some of the significant SRHR challenges that our adolescents and youths are facing. It is acknowledged that adolescents are receptive to culture and religion; models and examples set at home, school, their community, and the media. What they see, hear, watch, and perceive influences moral reasoning and behavior, including self-image, respect for others, gender roles, sexual activity, marriage, and more. Would you believe it if I told you that your pastor, sheikh, or any other faith leader could play a vital role in discussing and guiding your teenager about these issues? Now check this out: Exactly what Faith to Action Network (F2A) doing with the faith community. Religion and spirituality, as well as their relationship with their faith leaders, influence their growth and development process. From childhood through their early stages of development, they hold their faith leaders in high regard, seeing them as role models. They regard them as spiritual leaders and parents, and many see them as mentors in faith matters and other issues. Despite the glaring challenges that adolescents face in SRHR, something can be done. During this year’s #RHNKConference2024, Reproductive Health Network Kenya F2A will demonstrate how the faith community can play a vital role in addressing these SRHR issues that our teenagers and youths face. Join us at the #RHNKConference2024 to learn how faith communities can positively impact adolescent SRHR. Let's work together to create a supportive environment for our youth. #WhatYouthWant #Priorities4AYSRHR #SRHR #Tips

As an advocate at Donya Justice Network Kenya, I have witnessed how societal challenges affect people across all ages, from the elderly to the youth. Today, our teens are facing a crisis—navigating love, relationships, and sex in ways that often put their health, education, and future at risk. The Risks Are Alarming Unprotected sex, ignorance about STDs, and societal pressure have driven many young people into depression, regret, and even suicide. Many are neglecting safe practices, leaving condoms aside, and prioritizing fleeting solutions over their long-term well-being. As a society, we cannot turn a blind eye. The rise of issues like transactional relationships ('mubaba' or 'mumama') and the stigma around sexual identity are eroding the foundation of a healthy, informed generation. Why We Must Act We cannot afford to lose this generation. It’s time to stand together to promote safe sex education, open conversations, and mental health awareness. The youth need our guidance and support to protect their health, dignity, and dreams. Let’s Speak Up Every voice matters. Every action counts. Together, we can create a future where our youth thrive, just as we fight for the rights and dignity of the elderly. Will you join me in standing up for our teens and youths today? #YouthEmpowerment #SafeSexEducation #MentalHealthAwareness #Advocacy #DonyaJusticeNetworkKenya
Of course yes, it is a risk to our teens, yes, it's making them bring lives to an end. Love, sex and relationships. Young boys and girls have already dived into the dating and marriage world. They already have intimate partners. Education is not bothering them. They believe finding love is enough to keep their lives rolling smoothly. 'mubaba' or 'mumama' is amongst the best solution. Youths don't give a hoot about STDs being in their bodies until it truly happens. That's when they fall into regrets and depression that has a very high chance of ending up in suicide. Condoms have been kept aside and unprotected sex has taken the position. Lesbianism and Gayism is taking over. We are loosing the generation slowly by slowly without noticing it. Will you continue resting when our youths are loosing track. Don't you feel you have a great role to play in saving the teens and youths? Stand up today and speak. #youths #savingtheyouths #safesex #protectedsex #relationship #loveandsex Marvin Ekutu , Ms. Mercy Macharia , Raising heARTs Foundation , Youth Empowerment Program Initiative (YEPI) Opportunities for Youth , Youth Justice Legal Centre YOUTH+ Global Sexual Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS Deviare Youth Campus Moses Kwamboka, Yamato Scale Europe

Early and unintended pregnancies have a direct impact on the future of girls and young women, as especially in South Sudan, maternity often implies dropping out of the educational system. The fight against child pregnancies is complex and multifaceted as it is the result of various contextual factors. However, we are convinced that tailored sex education and the provision of contraceptives helps to diminish the number of unintended pregnancies significantly. Now is the time to ensure that every girl lives a life free from stigma with unhindered access to quality comprehensive sexuality education, to sexual and reproductive health rights and services and with meaningful opportunities to lead a productive life.

✨ Let's talk about something that impacts every young woman: Sexual Education!
