Leading a workshop at AllianceBernstein for their inspiring "Day of Understanding" we focused on creating affirming and supportive workplaces for neurodiverse individuals and highlighting the significance of psychological safety in organisations. 🎭 The highlight? Two powerful monologues from our #DiversityDialogues series: “Can’t vs Won’t” (centred on neurodiversity) and “Ask Me” (about Carers with Careers). These were brilliantly delivered by the our experienced actors, Crystal Chu and Jai Day. Their performances brought to life the challenges and needs of neurodiverse individuals and those executives balancing caregiving responsibilities. 🤝 The clients discussed how important it is to feel safe in expressing our personal circumstances, asking for help, and engaging in open discussions about what we need to thrive both at home and at work. A huge thank you to Alliance Bernstein for the platform and to everyone who participated. Many thanks to everyone at Healthwatch Stockport for today’s Making It Real event. It was great to hear from so many with lived experience. A lot of collaborative work is happening and it’s good to hear work is happening on communication. Good communication is so vital to inclusion and empowerment. We can’t forget non-verbal communication and how we make people feel by our actions and intentions. Whether we call it co-production or working in partnership, we all need to focus on positive action that creates meaningful change in people’s lives, not just words. While ERGs are common in tech and larger organizations, they may be a new concept for clinicians. The link between digital inclusion and health isn't just about online appointments, ordering a prescription via the NHS app or finding health advice on the internet. Digital access supports all of the social determinants of health - the factors in our lives that influence our physical and mental health. They include the work we do, the place we live, our relationships and our financial security. If you're digitally excluded, all of these factors suffer.
