CHRISTMAS IN THE SUN 🌞 A REMINDER THAT LIFE DOESN'T ALWAYS FIT THE SCRIPT! I’m writing this from sunny Fuerteventura, where the Christmas decorations are already up.🎄 Twinkling lights, tinsel, and festive displays are in full swing. It's beautiful, but I must admit—it feels a little surreal. Especially when back home its wet and cold and yet the temperature here suggests sandals rather than scarves.☔️ It got me thinking about how life can feel out of sync sometimes and different contexts can influence how we experience things. For example, grief and loss, often show up in unexpected ways and at unexpected times. Just as a Christmas tree in the tropics might feel out of place, navigating loss or transition can sometimes feel at odds with the world around us, especially when everyone else seems to be celebrating.🤔 What helps us make sense of these contrasts? For me, it’s about stopping to acknowledge them, letting them be what they are, and finding ways to move forward with care and kindness for ourselves.💕 These moments often lead to powerful conversations—whether it’s about resilience, well-being, or simply how we’re feeling. Have you ever had a moment of contrasts that made you stop and reflect? Or felt something out of step with the world around you? I’d love to hear your thoughts below⬇️ #grief #loss #balance #reflection
I find that life rarely fits the script. I have to say that I am very envious of the sun and the warm in Fuerteventura!
I lived in many countries where the sunshine was hot & Father Christmas arrived on a bike or a rickshaw 🛺 Julie P. Randall Acknowledging the contrasts as you say is a great step forward… I think you can be happy & sad at the same time 💕💎
I think my biggest contrast was the December my mother died as half the fireplace held Christmas cards the other sympathy ones

4wI remember my Grandfather telling me stories about when he was in the merchant navy and he had a Xmas dinner on the beach in Australia, how strange it felt…. When he passed away I felt that same strangeness 😞
