As the need for #sustainability becomes more pressing, these institutions must take an active role in integrating #decarbonisation and #climate adaptation into their strategic agendas. The Opportunity I’ve Been Waiting For My Whole Life! I am absolutely excited to share that I have been officially invited to speak at the Fifth Global Conference on Strengthening Synergies between the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development on 5-6 September 2024 at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil! 🇧🇷 This landmark event, co-convened by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the UNFCCC Secretariat, is set to be a game-changer in accelerating global climate action and sustainable development while ensuring fair and equitable transitions. It aligns with critical milestones like the Summit of the Future and COP29. This conference will be a phenomenal platform for exchanging insights, best practices, and innovative solutions to enhance the synergy between climate action and sustainable development goals. 🌍✨ Unlocking Climate Solutions: High-Level Champions & Marrakech Partnership Lead the Way at Bonn Climate Conference ✨🌍At Bonn Climate Conference, COP28 & COP29 High-Level Champions showcased global climate action, emphasizing a just transition, equitable finance, and ecosystem preservation. Joined by Marrakech Partnership reps, the event stressed unity and boldness in tackling climate challenges, echoing UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Stiell's call for collaboration. Business leaders and governments discussed enhancing national climate plans, urging enabling policies and green job creation, while local leaders highlighted the vital role of businesses in grassroots climate solutions. Civil society's power was evident, from Indigenous Peoples' ecosystem restoration to advocacy by the Women and Gender Constituency. The Climate Nature Coordination Platform's launch emphasized integrating nature priorities into climate action for enhanced NDCs. As the conference concludes, the message resonates: collective action is key. And that’s how H2O made it to the global stage at the #Youth4Climate Flagship Event 2024! 🤩 Our H2O star, Zoha Waqas, was honored as a #Youth4Climate Awardee for the 2024 Call for Solutions in the thematic area of Climate and Environmental Literacy in Turin, Italy. Representing Pakistan and Tayaba’s H2O (Help-2-Others) Mission on the global stage, it was heartwarming to see youth taking action on the most urgent issue of our time: the Climate Crisis. The event was filled with discussions, solutions, and action, bringing together youth climate activists, policymakers, and experts to share both contextual and broader perspectives on climate action. Critical topics like the #G7 Outcomes, #NDCs, the #LossandDamageFund, the #Climate, #Peace, and #Security Nexus, and expectations for #COP29 and #COP30 were discussed—all focused on one central question: What role will youth play in these areas, and how soon? It was inspiring to witness the climate solutions presented by fellow #Youth4Climate Awardees, and we are excited to collaborate with the cohort to turn the hope of tackling the climate crisis into reality. 🌍 “Culture is the forgotten, decisive factor when it comes to climate change.” – Dorine Dubois, UNESCO As Cop29 unfolds in Baku, a coalition of 40+ countries and 1,500+ civil society organizations is championing the formal inclusion of arts, culture, and heritage in global climate negotiations. A key example of culture driving innovation: the UAE’s pavilion at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale, led by architect Wael Al Awar, showcased eco-friendly cement made from recycled industrial waste brine. This creative solution has the potential to transform the construction industry—responsible for 8% of global CO2 emissions.
