📣 We are excited to announce that SPiN has been awarded a prestigious contract under the Invest element of the European Space Agency - ESA ScaleUp programme! 🎉 🛰 The programme will support the manufacturing, launch, and operation of SPiN's 3U CubeSat for In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD). 📡 This platform will use MA61C CubeSat to integrate a payload into a heritage satellite platform. The 3U CubeSat will be launched in October 2025. 🚀 The demonstration will carry an innovative Space Situational Awareness payload that ARCA Dynamics provides ☄ These significant milestones would not have been possible without the collaborations with German Orbital Systems GmbH and Exolaunch, who will contribute to the project through manufacturing, operations, and launch services. The ScaleUp INVEST Element aims to accelerate the commercialisation of space technologies and drive innovation in Europe. Mario Merino Martínez, professor in our group, participated in the RNE Radio 5 program “Europa Abierta” to speak about the launch of the Ariane 6 rocket on July 9th. The launch inaugurates a new era of autonomous European space transportation. The passengers of the first Ariane 6 flights are satellites, deployers, and experiments from companies, research institutes, universities, young professionals, and space agencies. Mario provided insights on why the launch matters for the EU space scene, the role of collaboration in driving innovation and technological progress, and details about the launch itself. Ariane 6 results from the joint effort between 13 EU states and many academic and industry partners. European Space Agency - ESA oversees the procurement process and is responsible for the overall launch system, enabling Europe to realize its ambitions on the world stage. 🇪🇺 𝗘𝗨 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 🌱 🛰️ In the next decade, we expect to launch an additional 25,000 satellites into orbit, but at what cost? As emissions reduction targets draw closer, the lack of a common framework to assess the environmental impact of space activities is a challenge we can no longer overlook! Alpha Impulsion is honored to be an active member of 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗘𝗙𝗖𝗥 (Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules). Together with key players accross the entire value chain, our Chief Scientific Officer Martin Gros is working to establish a standardized methodology to measure and reduce the environmental impact of space products. 🎯This initiative by the European Commission focuses on three key objectives: 1️⃣ 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗘𝗙𝗖𝗥𝘀, tailored for the space industry and focusing on the most significant environmental impacts  2️⃣ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀 to ensure accurate and comparable results across the value chain. 3️⃣ 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 to encourage all stakeholders to improve their environmental performance. At Alpha Impulsion, we’re also cutting the environmental footprint of space launchers with our autophage engine. It uses 50% less fuel thanks to a lighter design and significantly lowers manufacturing footprint by eliminating fuel tanks, staging systems, and secondary engines.    🌱 #Sustainability is only achievable by working together. Poland is becoming really active within European Space ecosystem, as noted by Josef Aschbacher. The first mission to ISS by Slawosz Uznanski is a hallmark of those, but its worth also to keep in mind other great activities such as: - SpaceForest with their suborbital Perun rocket joining ESA Boost programme, but most importantly first successful commercial starts - Scanway Space & ICEYE aiming at joint venture to build high-resolution satellite optical systems to combine SAR & optical vision for defense purposes - Creotech Instruments S.A. leading study works on developing 2nd nanosat as a part of European Space Agency - ESA AURORA project - aiming at monitoring space weather. - KP Labs with their recent & successful deployment of Intuition-1, followed up by development of many mission critical components and systems offered for other missions and many more! It is even more exciting for me as recently Iterative Engineering managed to pave its way to this industry as well. Few weeks ago we've started works with Guiana Spaceport (CSG) and Centre National d'Études Spatiales teams on improving request management process during payload preparations before the integration with rocket and launch. #space #poland

🛰 New opportunity for Zero Debris technologies suppliers!  European Space Agency - ESA is developing satellites in alignment with the Zero Debris approach, together with Airbus Defence and Space, OHB SE and Thales Alenia Space, committed to deliver on the promise of Zero Debris by 2030.  To ensure compliant satellites can be designed and built in time, European Space Agency - ESA is supporting industry during this transition.  Phase 1️⃣, targeting System Requirements Review (SRR) -level, of “Large LEO Spacecraft Platforms Evolution for Zero Debris Policy Implementation” activity has already started and the next step is suppliers' consultation to consolidate the Zero Debris Platforms roadmap.   Phase 2️⃣, targeting Preliminary Design Review (PDR) -level, will follow in 2026 with suppliers on-board to reach TRL 6 for all Zero Debris building blocks.   To kick off the supplier consultation, and foster collaboration, ESA is proposing a Zero Debris workshop for the Large System Integrators and suppliers in January 2025. 📅 SAVE THE DATE    - 21 January 2025 9-12h (CET): Brief online presentations by each integrator and supplier to outline the integrator's current needs and the suppliers' latest technologies.   - 22 January 2025 14-18h (CET): Bilateral online meetings between integrators and suppliers, based on prior registration and selection, to discuss potential collaborations in more detail.        If you are a supplier with an interesting Zero Debris technology to put forward, please fill in this form before December 6th: https://lnkd.in/e45B3fgt We look forward to working all together for a Zero Debris future!

Our project EROSS SC is among the 8 projects highlighted in the European Commission’s latest publication on R&I projects in the field of In-Space Operations and Services (#ISOS). ISOS are a key strategic area for the #EuropeanUnion as we enable the EU to strengthen its leadership in #space and the future space ecosystem. By mastering ISOS, the EU will gain the capacity to “Act in Space,” ensuring its industrial and research sectors take a central role in advancing sustainable space operations. Furthermore, ISOS drives disruptive innovations that enhance the resilience and sustainability of space infrastructure, making it a crucial domain for future R&I efforts and strategic independence in space exploration and services.
