🚨 Demand Full Inclusion for Transgender and Intersex Students! 🚨 Tell your Senator you support strong civil rights protections for transgender and intersex students! 🏳️⚧️ Trans students and their allies need robust federal rules that reinforce their rights under Title IX—the federal law that bans sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs and expands access to athletic programs. The Biden Administration has taken historic steps toward strengthening these protections by finalizing regulations that reinforce prohibitions on discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation. However, anti-trans members of Congress voted last week to strip students of these protections, and now all eyes are on the Senate. Tell your Senator to support strong Title IX rules that reinforce the rights of trans, nonbinary, and intersex students in all educational spaces and programs, whether they're in the classroom, in the restroom, or on the team. ### Why this matters: - **Equity and Safety:** Transgender, nonbinary, and intersex students deserve the same access to education as their peers. This includes respect in their classrooms, access to appropriate school facilities, and inclusion in athletics and other gender-separated programs. - **Youth Mental Health:** Transgender, nonbinary, and intersex students experience significantly increased risk of suicide, which is exacerbated by high-profile attacks on their educational opportunities. A robust Title IX rule will reinforce federal protections against harassment and exclusion based on their gender identity. - **Anti-Trans Attacks on Title IX:** Anti-trans lawmakers in the House and Senate have made it clear that they will vote to overturn the Biden Administration's rules reinforcing the rights of students to learn free from discrimination. Lawmakers must push back against the radical anti-trans agenda being advanced by their peers. ### Take action now: - **Contact Your Senator:** Urge them to support the Biden Administration's rulemaking strengthening Title IX's protection of trans, nonbinary, and intersex students. Every student deserves a safe and respectful learning environment in which they are free to be themselves. - **Spread the Word:** Share this alert with your network. The more people who voice their support, the stronger our message will be. As anti-trans attacks continue to escalate at the federal level, take decisive action to ensure transgender, nonbinary, and intersex students have equal access to educational opportunities. Children deserve affirming, safe, and inclusive schools so that they can thrive. #DemandFullInclusion #TitleIX #TransRights #IntersexRights #ProtectTransStudents #EqualityForAll #LGBTQRights

MTPC's Statement on Challenges to New Title IX Rules pasted from Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition "We are aware that 30 Massachusetts schools have been included in a lawsuit filed by Moms for Liberty, a hate-based extremist organization that seeks to erase the rights and existences of transgender and nonbinary youth in schools. This lawsuit has halted the implementation of new Title IX rules that seek to protect trans, nonbinary, and LGBQ youth that were supposed to be implemented in August 2024. These new rules affirmed that Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, transgender status, and other sex-based characteristics and stereotypes. This suit has resulted in multiple temporary injunctions preventing this implementation in at least 26 states, including 30 schools in Massachusetts. First and foremost, nothing has changed in Massachusetts. These new Title IX regulations had not yet gone into effect prior to this lawsuit or these injunctions. All transgender and nonbinary students in Massachusetts are still protected under state law. For more information about protections for, and the rights of trans and nonbinary students in Massachusetts, visit our friends at GLAD’s website: https://lnkd.in/dS68M2ZU. You can also view resources for schools, students, and families through the MA Safe Schools program: https://lnkd.in/dN9XYejR." Finally, while Moms for Liberty and their compatriots claim that these protections would undermine the rights of cisgender women and girls, we know that this is a vitriolic malappropriation of gender rights and feminism. These attacks on bodily autonomy and federal protections based on gender and sex do nothing to protect anyone and seek only to eliminate any protections, rights, and safety for transgender and nonbinary youth and adults, especially transgender girls and women. If you, your children, or anyone you know experiences discrimination, abuse, bullying, or other attacks in your/their school or place of learning that are based on gender identity, presentation, or status, please reach out to us as soon as possible at info@masstpc.org."

🏳️⚧️ Take action with Advocates For Trans Equality below! 🏳️⚧️ Repost from @transequalitynow: 🚨 ACTION ALERT!🚨 The House of Representatives voted to strip our trans and intersex youth of the #TitleIX protections that the Biden administration just finalized. Now, we MUST tell the Senate that our youth deserve to be protected. Go to the link in our bio to add your name - it only takes a few seconds to make your voice heard! Why is this so important? The Biden Administration’s rule strengthens current protections by clarifying that LGBTQI+ students have the right to: • An educational environment free from anti-LGBTQI+ harassment • Access to appropriate bathrooms, locker rooms, and other school facilities • Express their gender identity free from discrimination These are crucial, basic protections that our trans and intersex youth both need and deserve. All young people should feel safe at school, and our trans and intersex youth deserve the basic safety that they need to thrive. It is now up to the Senate to stop this effort to roll back these critical protections. Join us in calling on your Senators to vote NO on S.J.Res. 96 and H.J.Res.165, and to stand up for the rights of transgender, nonbinary, and intersex students. School facilities must be safe and equally accessible to everyone - including our trans and intersex youth. Sign the petition here:

Transgender students in Tawain are very common in this country., Transgender students in Taiwan, like in many parts of the world, face various challenges and experiences that can impact their visibility and the collection of accurate statistics. While there are no precise numbers on the prevalence of transgender students specifically in Taiwan, there are several points to consider. Social and Cultural Context: Taiwan is generally considered one of the more progressive countries in Asia regarding LGBTQ+ rights. In 2019, it became the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. This progressive stance can create a more supportive environment for transgender individuals, including students. Visibility and Support: Transgender students in Taiwan may be more visible and supported in urban areas with more progressive attitudes. Schools and universities in these areas might have support systems in place, such as LGBTQ+ clubs or counseling services that cater to transgender students. Challenges and Discrimination: Despite the legal advancements, transgender students in Taiwan still face significant challenges, including bullying, discrimination, and lack of understanding from peers and educators. These issues can impact their willingness to come out and seek support. LGBTQ+ Organizations: Several organizations in Taiwan work to support the LGBTQ+ community, including transgender individuals. These organizations often provide resources, advocacy, and support networks for transgender students. Research and Statistics: There is a need for more comprehensive research and data collection to understand the experiences and needs of transgender students in Taiwan better. Existing studies and surveys on LGBTQ+ issues in Taiwan can provide some insights but may not fully capture the specific experiences of transgender students.

🤯The recent release of the UK Government’s Department for Education’s Draft Guidance for ‘Gender Questioning Children’, 🏳️⚧️⚧️ in December 2023, has sparked a vital discussion on inclusivity and legal compliance in educational environments. This blog post delves into the critical analysis of this guidance which was excellently carried out by Robin Moira White, emphasising its significant shortcomings and the urgency for a complete overhaul. As Robin points out - ‼️The ‘Gender Questioning Children’ Guidance (GQCG), has raised eyebrows across legal and educational spheres. Its content, meant to guide schools in supporting gender-questioning and transgender students, seems to miss the mark on several fronts, indicating a need for a deeper analysis and revision...‼️ Links to Robin’s original long form post can be found at the end of my ~TL;DR summary which breaks out the key elements of her analysis. I've recently been reading Kestral Gaian's "Twenty Eight: Stories from the section 28 generation". It is a series of both empowering and harrowing accounts of LGBTQIA+ writers on their experiences of living under Section 28 within UK education (1988 to 2003). The "Don't say gay" law, which made it a criminal offence for teachers to educate my generation on LGBTQ+ existence (let alone rights/needs/support/humanity) continues to have a lasting dynasty of horror, discrimination, and stigmatisation for millions of people today. I often think about Section 28, a policy that actively suppressed LGBTQ+ education, creating a culture of fear, ignorance, and bigotry. It’s a stark reminder of what happens when education is stifled: prejudice takes root, and vulnerable/minority communities suffer. Now, given evidence suggests that neurodivergent people are more likely to be/identify as LGBTQ+, with some papers suggesting autistic people are eight times more likely to identify as LGBTQ+. It is vital that we not only consider the education of neurodivergence, but the intersection of Neurodivergence, sexuality, and gender from a position which acknowledges the sociocultural landscape of my generations entire educational journey. How did our autistic/ADHD friends, family, and colleagues make sense of a schooling system which denied their LGBTQ+ identity as well as their neurodivergent one? One of my proudest accomplishments to date was getting funding to have the incredible PhD student Jo McCormick work with me on their doctorate exploring the lived experience of LGBTQ+ parents of neurodivergent children this October. I suspect that the lasting after-effects of section 28 will be echoed throughout the findings both explicitly, and implicitly.
