Through Cents for Seeds, our aim is to empower rural women in northern Uganda to overcome the multiple disadvantages they face. We do this by partnering with local communities to combat the disparities in education, economic status, gender and class between men and women. Intersectionality is a term that's caught on in the last few years. But what does it actually mean and what has it got to do with empowering women? Put simply, intersectionality is the concept that systems of inequality involve multiple intersecting forms of disadvantage. Intersectionality is an important consideration in building gender equality because it helps us understand how different forms of disadvantage interact and exacerbate inequality. If we fail to consider intersectionality, our efforts to empower women might be limited in their impact and could even worsen the situation for them. To empower rural women, we need diverse and complex solutions that acknowledge and address the fact that gender inequality does not act alone, but together with other forms of disadvantage. #LoveMercy #CentsForSeeds #GenderEquality #IntersectionalDisadvantage #Intersectionality

SDG Agenda 2030 highlights the crucial need for gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. Unfortunately, the world is falling short in this regard. However, I find hope in the United Nations' call to #InvestInWomen. With 90% of my LinkedIn network consisting of decision-makers in the private sector, there's a tangible opportunity to take action. Let's advocate for policies and initiatives that foster gender equality and create avenues for women's advancement. Actions speak louder than words. Moreover, I personally resonate with this call. It's about each of us stepping up. This year, I'm investing in myself by seeking additional educational opportunities for both professional and personal growth. I invite you to join me in answering this call and #InvestInWomen.

I know it's not International Women's Day until Friday... But.... why can't we have an entire week of awareness? 🤷♀️ The problem is big enough to warrant it. The United Nations have neatly packaged up the facts about gender inequality: 💸 An additional $360 billion is needed per year to achieve gender equality. 👭 Closing gender gaps in employment could boost GDP per capita by 20%. 👩⚕️ Closing gaps in unpaid care work between men and women, and expanding paid care services could spark almost 300 million jobs by 2035. (Link in comments) When we support and invest in women everyone wins. 👏 Everyone wins 👏 --- So this week, Untangld are celebrating our network of exceptional female talent. We've asked everyone for one piece of advice that you'd like to give to your younger self. These messages are to inspire and uplift the next generation of talent, and to help raise awareness that we still have a long way to go. I'm going to kick things off with my advice in the comments.... 👇 How you can participate: 💬 Engage with our wonderful women in the comments. ♻️ Hit repost if you relate, or feel inspired. 📭 Create your own posts with your advice and Untangld will repost you. #IWD2024 #FemaleLeadership #BusinessStrategy Edwina Olver Rachel Bruins Lauren Stoeckel Marina McManaway Lawrence Heath Jamal Cassim Danish Chan James Needham
