🌍🚢 Excited to share my latest article for the Central Dredging Association - CEDA on the transformative potential of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in the dredging industry! Amidst global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, and the push for sustainable development, NbS are emerging as essential tools for enhancing the sustainability of dredging projects. With global climate investment funds projected to rise to €700-800 billion by 2050, industries worldwide are committing to innovative, eco-friendly approaches. Key Points: 🌱 NbS in Action: Projects like the Randle Reef Sediment Remediation in Canada and the Maasvlakte 2 Expansion in the Netherlands show how sediment management and ecosystem-based methods can reduce environmental impacts and support ecological resilience. 💡 Barriers to Adoption: Traditional cost-based assessment models and procurement methods slow the uptake of NbS. The Dutch government’s €110 million investment in the NL2120 consortium aims to overcome these barriers by promoting NbS adoption in Europe’s dredging industry. 🤝 Industry Collaboration: Key players like Van Oord and Boskalis are involved, providing insights into NbS adoption complexities. NL2120 focuses on integrating sustainable practices and offering networking opportunities with governmental bodies, NGOs, and industry partners. 💰 Economic and Social Benefits: Despite higher upfront costs, NbS projects offer lower maintenance costs and long-term benefits. The NL2120 initiative is expected to generate substantial economic growth and social benefits, positioning Dutch businesses as leaders in the global NbS market. 🏆 Future Outlook: By embracing NbS, the dredging industry can enhance its resilience to climate change, contribute to ecosystem preservation, and unlock greater revenue opportunities. Let's drive positive change and environmental stewardship together! 🌊 👉 Read the full article on CEDA Industry News: https://lnkd.in/evtzcFVe 🙌 Join the Conversation: How can NbS revolutionize your industry? In the H2Deri@BSP project we'll be working tirelessly to bridge the knowledge gap in handling hydrogen derivatives like methanol and ammonia at seaports. 🌍🔋Our goal? To empower port authorities, terminal operators, maritime fuel providers, and energy suppliers with the tools and strategies we need to accelerate the transition to low- or zero-carbon fuels. Klaipėdos uostas/Port of Klaipėda joins forces with nine ports and partners on a transformative journey towards reducing CO2 emissions and combating climate change across Baltic Sea Region 🌊🔗 #portofKlaipeda #SustainableShipping #BalticSeaRegion #PORTprojects #Methanol #Hydrogen #ZeroCarbon #ClimateAction #GreenDeal #BalticSeaPorts #Partnership #FundingSuccesst Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V.
#PORTprojects We are happy to announce that the Port of Hamburg Marketing project department successfully applied for two new funding projects, supporting the energy transition and circularity in ports! The new projects directly support the implementation of aims set in the recently updated port development plan. Natuarlly, the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) is one of the partners involved in project implementation. 💧 #H2Derivatives@BalticSea Ports will increase the capacity of port authorities and helps to build stronger cooperation to jointly develop proof-of concepts for the uptake of H2 Derivatives fuels and by that demonstrates a pathway to the successful transition towards zero emission in energy supply and shipping. There is e.g. a need for H2-Derivative market forecasts, techno-economic models to decide on investments, suitable bunkering equipment and berth mappings. The port transformation requires adapted port regulations including safety manuals for handling, and suitable bunkering technology. 🔄 #CircularPorts aims to lift circular economy synergies & provides transferable solutions to deploy circular economy (CE) in Baltic Sea Region port environments, presented in a toolbox that contains: - A methodology for data collection, -mining, & -visualisation on waste-/material flows in port environments to provide a basis for CE strategy implementation. - Functional stakeholder platforms to find symbioses between enterprises. - Business models based on CE-strategies to motivate replicators to scale-up solutions. - Procurement guidelines considering CE #CircularPorts and #H2Deri@BSP are #MadeWithInterreg and funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme. 🤝 Thank you to all partners of both projects! Great panel discussion at the EPEE symposium, we tackled the implementation of the EPBD and EED. I got to explain how cities are at the center of the energy transition, and it was perfectly illustrated by Brian Seeberg presenting "Project Zero" in Sonderborg (DK). Cities are real innovators!
What a great panel to close our symposium! We heard from Brian Seeberg from ProjectZero about a the unique public-private partnership in Sonderborg; Charlotte van de Water of Agoria shared the stats on Belgium’s unique building stock; Nicolas Raimondi of Energy Cities discussed #EED and how cities are at the centre of implementation; and Davide Sabbadin with European Environmental Bureau reviewed the gaps in subsidies and incentives for decarbonisation at the local level. Thank you to our lovely panelists and our keynote Nina Neumann!

At Belter Tech, we're pioneering the way in sustainable construction with low embodied carbon concrete products. Have you ever wondered what goes into the products you use every day? An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) tells the story of a product's environmental impact from cradle to grave. Belter Tech has been selected for $723,000 by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for funding under the Reducing Embodied Greenhouse Gas Emissions for Construction Materials Products Grant Program. Through this five-year project, Belter Tech aims to significantly impact the construction industry by improving the quality and credibility of EPDs and supporting the development of robust Product Category Rules (PCRs) and associated conformity assessment systems. #Sustainability #GreenConstruction #EPA #EPD #BelterTech #Innovation #NetZero #CircularEconomy #EnvironmentalImpact #ClimateAction #WasteReduction #SustainableMaterials #ConstructionIndustry #EcoFriendly #GreenBuilding #SustainableInnovation #CarbonNeutral #RenewableResources #FutureOfConstruction #EPDProcesses #GrantFunding
